Florida State fielded its first bowling teams in 1965. FSU has advanced twenty-two times to the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships and has 2 National Championship Runner Up finishes.
What Can You Expect?
Students come to bowl at Florida State because they can earn a degree from a prestigious university and to have a chance to bowl collegiately with one of the nation’s best teams. In 2007, the Bowling Team was named outstanding sport club at FSU. As a member of the FSU Bowling Team, we hope to instill in you the traits of discipline, responsibility, loyalty, and perseverance. It is our hope that your involvement with the Bowling Team will round out your college experience, and when you graduate, you will remember the Bowling Team as one of the most rewarding of your experiences at Florida State. In helping you in your quest to become an elite level athlete, we will emphasize fundamentals, the ability to replicate shots, speed, loft, and release adjustments, and the confidence that will make you want to step up to make that shot in the 10th frame. In addition to having credentialed coaches with extensive experience, the bowling team utilizes Crenshaw Lane’s Kegel Sanction Technology Lane Machine to put out actual tournament lane conditions. We also have two lanes of Kegel C.A.T.S.
As well as Ebonite Bowlers Map Gold which allow us to determine exactly your strengths and what we need to work on to make you better. At FSU we believe that everyone is of value and can make a contribution to our program. That is why we don’t make cuts at FSU!
Assistant Coach Joey Kendrick came to FSU in 2004. Coach Kendrick is a USBC Silver Level Coach and IBPSIA certified ball driller who brings great bowling experience and Pro-Shop knowledge to the program. Associate Coaches include former Seminole bowlers: Ricky Bailey, David Beck, Rachel Figueroa-Collins, Michelle Kendrick, Stephen Padilla and Gina Bollotta.

The Head Coach of the FSU Bowling team is Michael Fine. Coach Fine, a USBC Silver Level Coach, came to FSU in 2005 following 20 years at The University of Kansas. While at KU he led his teams to nine Intercollegiate Bowling Championship appearances including three top five finishes and the 2004 Men’s Intercollegiate Bowling Championship. Coach Fine was named the 2002 Men’s Intercollegiate Bowling Coach of the Year. Since Coach Fine’s arrival both the FSU Men and Women have advanced to the Intercollegiate Team Championships.
