Involvement Fair January 12, 2016 The Involvement Fair is a special event occurring at the beginning of each semester that showcases the various student organizations at FSU to help students get involved. The 2016 Spring Involvement Fair was held on Tuesday, January 12, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Oglesby Union Courtyard and Ballrooms. A total of 210 student and university organizations participated. A total of 178 surveys were completed. The event was very hectic because of the traffic in the Union Courtyard and in the ballrooms but the feedback from the Involvement Fair was mostly positive. Aramark provided hot chocolate for the event but the beverage ran out after 20 minutes because of the large amount of participants, about 1,400 in attendance. The main student suggestion for improving the event was to add more room and maps in order to have a better idea of which organizations were represented. The Involvement Fair for Spring 2016 was an overall success with a record number of organizations and students participating. Highlights: • • • • •
Most students who completed the survey were freshmen (33%) and sophomores (33%), female (65%), and were members of a recognized student organization (66%). The majority of respondents came to the event to learn about campus activities (35%) and to enjoy the event (31%). Most students heard about the event through a friend/word-of-mouth (29%), flyers (19%) and e-mails (15%). The majority (71%) of students said that they found an RSO they would like to join and (65%) said that they also attended the Fall 2015 Involvement Fair. Responses to the question on what could be improved is to have more space and food (38%)
Students were asked if they attended the Fall 2015 Involvement Fair and if so, to list which organizations they had already joined in the Fall and organizations which they had the intention of joining for the upcoming semester. A chart of organizations categorized by the type of club that students joined in the fall can be found in the chart below. Please note that students were able to list more than one organization.
