Oğul Öztunç 2018

This document contains 2 Projects, many irrelevant images and words that came along with them. It is not flooded with architectural projects as I believe that ‘thinking architecture without terms of architecture’ is my best quality. It stays somewhere between self explanation and display. And even monologue sometimes.

Prepared For ‘Vardiya’ 16th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale Di Venezia, Pavilion Of Turkey

Dream Space I want architecture to contain all my things but don’t interfere with my arrangements.

Plan Plan has the power to organize life like a drawer. I’ve drawn my current residince.

Sleep-Log Travel notebook I won a travel prize with my graduation project. Traveled across Japan for one month. A time in the parallel universe. Made the sleep arrangements in diverse places. Drawn all of them.

Lecture-Log Note page from a class Melting subconcious self with signals coming from outside, pouring directly into the paper. Ritualised since primary school. Taking those notes is one of my favourite activities.

Balcony I am very devoted to my house life. I day dream changing it in detail.

Table Making a table is easy. One should ďŹ nd a plane surface and some poles. I’ve used a plywood panel, found stools and glass to make mine.

Miniature Grad. Project Open Air Performance Museum Ambition of my graduation project was to transform urban area of Kadıköy waterfront into a perfomance center. Project aims to spread its components around the area. Therefore I had to come up with a representation tool that covers huge data about waterfront. Inspiration of old miniature’s hierarchical perspective technique came to help.

Story Board Grad. Project Comic strips are the best language to communicate a story.

Mind Map Grad. Project One has to unfold his mind and keep it organized. For every project.

Trailer Grad. Project Preparing a trailer video is a good way to kickstart a project.

Axonometric Drawing Grad. Project I associate axo with precision and accuracy. Best way to understand and work with the whole.

Dissolve Grad. Project I’ve used animation to atomize conceptual ideas behind the whole.

Stages Grad. Project Random Possibilities of Spatiality From a solo political speech to hide-and-seek playground. I’ve Imagined all those random performance places and drawn them with amusement.

Position Project 7 12 Structures are placed in critical joints of gezi park.

Foreigner Project 7 Structures take character from contrast to their context. Pink, plastic and sexy opposing to green and concrete.

Decompose Project 7 I like tearing projects apart. I like seeing them all together.

Adaptation Project 7 Foreigners -very spesiďŹ cly- take shape from their surrounding features like urban movements and topography.

Perspective Freelance Work Perspective is upmost important tool when visualising space, which I see as creating space in a dierent dimension.

Blue I occasionally paint things in blue. I really like the color.

Jury Card I dont like grading things. I draw some other stu when I’m invited to juries.

Subconcious and Boundaries Subconcious is resourceful with imagination. It gets better when there is boundaries to trigger it. I try to capture this state when someone is talking.

Self Portrayal I draw those here or then. Not because of admiration but for inquiry.

Multiplication Manifolding words is good. It helps to derive spaces from concepts and images.

Familiarity I try making things with some kind of similar character. Not homogeneous but coherent.

Monkey I’ve discovered that I impersonate myself with the animal monkey. While studying I found a tree in the backyard of our faculty. I sometimes go climb to this tree.

Excitement For quite a time now, I’ve been draw ing those monkeys in random places in Istanbul. Adrenaline feels good.
