were serving proper public spaces to the city itself, because i believe that relation between architecture and city is one of the key things that effects our daily lives and improve it. Also during this period of learning i tried to learn different kind of mediums to represent my ideas in terms of representation. Because we, as architects need to show our ideas, imaginations, datas and production of space to people with different tecniques and methods in a clear way. And as a junior architect ı would like to spent my time improving myself in proffesional life. And now, ı am looking for jobs that ı can be a part of, improve myself and fulfill my experience on architecture.

GRADUATE RESEARCH CENTER Spring 2019 tutor:Dr.Fatmagül Aslaner
Research is a way of life for some people; “people whose occupations deal primarily with ideas” (Sowell, T.) In the age of anti-intellectualism,maybe some of us designers, might choose to appreciate the way of life dedicated to academic research, scientific thinking and sharing of knowledge.

PROGRAM As an Architectural Design VI course’s program is to design a graduate research center/library for graduate students and academicians from the city and abroad who might have to accomodate in this complex use of space. The aim of the assignment to enhance the skill of thinking in complex uses to question if architectural design can augment academic research and learning to explore what makes a library “a sanctuary of knowledge” rather than a stack of books CONTEXT The site of the project is Marmara University Anadolu Hisarı Campus which is near Göksu stream, one of the streams that connect to Bosphorus. The neighbourhood, Anadolu Hisarı, is started to be a settlement area during the reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conquerer from this period to have a watching tower to watch Black Sea and Bosphorus. Anadolu Hisarı has an old, warm and friendly neighbourhood thas has two or three storey high buildings
The purpose of creating a facility which is functional and for city itself, there is a personal experience based method has been observed. As a result of the activities carried out, graduate center/library volume and accomodation volume are designed far from each other.Because as an architecture student, most of us are making our works in studio and don’t study in our homes. Library and study areas should be placed in same mass because of their relationship between their programs.By keeping the existing road between sites offering a new of connection between sites and by having a cut between sites it allows having a separation in programs. 8
MASS CONFIGURATION Library has placed itself near to the street because of the accessibility to pedesterian and cars, accomodation has placed near to the neighbourhood to people who might stay these units and use the hood’s facilities also. Library volume has express itself reference to the context becase how big itself and uses itself as a roof and cover the spaces under itself and become a base to volumes that on it. Connection with accomodation and library volume provided with a ramp that has two lecture halls on the sides
“it is thought that the land should be used as a continuous open area in the aerial photographs examined in 1940 and later, and it would be preferable to consider this part as a park because of the lack of planted trees and narrowing of the throat and wind. Considering the density potential it is thought that this area will be provided as a park for the inhabitants of the region. “The path that passes through the middle of the two parts of the earth is protected and the fields without interfering with each other and the proposal of a ramp connecting each other.”

EXPLODED AXONOMETRIC OF LIBRARY
Lıbrary/graduate center has three levels.First level connects with the accomodation and through the park that created with an amphi/landscaping.It is a big gesture to have a park with using 4 meter slope by using an amphi That is why first level is an access for the graduate users, second level access is for the people from the neighbourhood. 10

In ground floor there is a mixed use between library and study areas and there is inner gardens that placing them around into one plate because of its own spatial one space there is more than one way to enter the volume and be part of the facility itself. Architectural elements such as columns, walls, curtains were the key elements to circulate whole space. Also some of the load bearing walls become the shelves for books by doing a simple subtraction move. Even such a lineer building with a lot of green surroundings having courtyards to read books and rest at the same time adds a peacefulness to the space

TEGET is organizing the first step of summer workshops this summer that will take place in Datça Hızırşah Village, in collaboration with Bilgi University Graduate Department. Potentials for adding annex units to certain buildings in the traditional villages of Datça peninsula will be investigated under this theme. According to a broader vision about the peninsula, the centrally located villages are conceived as places of agricultural, educational and recreational activities. Inactive school buildings in these villages will be studied by the students and design proposals for their reuse with alternative programs and additional units will be developed, parallel to a research on vernacular architecture and settlement patterns. The student projects will be carried out in communication with local educational authorities, keeping in mind their needs and preferences.
18
There are schools on the Datça Peninsula that do not fully function. The proposal is to reinforce the functionality of the seven selected schools by providing additional structure proposals and to contribute to them.

security What we were looking in the case studies were how we can hold into the walls of the schools and turn into them spaces with thickening. This volume is thought to be a compact space that is holds a mixed program atelier, security and depot and creates a transition space between outside and inside of the schools.
In terms of ease of use and ease of production, the additional building was decided to become a type after a certain design stage and turned into a lightly structured structure. There are different types depending on the relations of this annex building with its own land. 04.PANELS

radical city -Uninhibited Fragments of the CityCultural Center Fall 2018
Tophane-KabataĹ&#x; region was an industrial zone serving different ethnic – religious groups including Greeks, Armenians, and Muslims. It was a critical harbor area for the army and trade. In the first decades of Turkish rebuplis the society has are inhabited by imagranst from eastern Turkey. This historical turbulent creates a multi layered urban history for the area. The region has been subject to rapid urban and social change, which resulted in differing and conflicting perceptions of the area.
28
Aerial perspective that shows the mass of the project and relationship with the square and the context
Perspective view from the square between theatre building. Also showing the relationship between the sea section to use of human. Another thing is creating steps into the sea makes a amphi like space to observe others and rest at the same time in outside space. Lastly using a public display in project creates a life in a space day and night.
Imagine a world where there has been a world wide riot against the neoliberal governments. After the riot a new system starts. According to this unknown order the radical city or the new urban starts to operate. You will imagine a new society and a new urban form. How does this new system operates? What are the new codes of the urban morphology? Would it be possible to construct a resilient city? How does the new system matches with urbanism? The process will start with a competition for the master plan. The urban program may include production spaces, cultural/ educational centers, re-creational public spaces and/or their hybrid constructions rising from critical and creative discoveries of the radical city. The master plan should include/ propose at least 7000-8000m2 closed space program for each student.
29
Aerial collage perspective that shows the where building is located and how it reacts to its context
As a design process the mass that comes from the master plan tried to study on the site. First design decision was lifting building up make the ground level as public as possible. Then carving out some land or playing with topography tried to achieve more wide space underneath the building. As such a long building in order to get more light ground level added some cracks to get sunlight and using the angle of light as a mass decision one of the decisions. After seperation of volumes the alterations of theirs section and creation of other spaces could be used as terraces in order to define open and semi open spaces. In plan of this elevations always created a linear building in site but using the alterations of the separation of spaces in plan it created different layout and created a new way of relation between volumes and building scaled itself with its surroundings.
30
This part is where project got fragmanted into three volumes in order to get dynamism of the section in plan and also get rid of the one giant single volume that goes along almost 90 metre

KOŞUYOLU HOUSING Memory of Kosuyolu Spring 2018 tutor:Büşra AL partnered w/Muhammed Aydem, Lütfü Emir Yılmaz
The site is behind the Nautilus in Kadıköy Koşuyolu, is a urban space used as a car park today. This area has many slits in relation to its surroundings. As far as the definition of these slits, we can summarize that as in the case of contextual relations between the areas. In the public-private context of the area and its surroundings, we have produced compositions to dissolve these slits and to establish a relationship between the fields.
38
Public (adj) 1. Umuma şayi ve müşterek, umumi 2. devletin, miri, amire, mamure 3. devletin hizmetinde olan 4 .mütevatir 5. aleni 6. cumhurun, ortalığın, alemin, halkın, milletin 7. devletin her hangi bir fer’inin, eyaletin, sancağın, nahiyenin, şehrin, köyün, mahallenin, çarşunun, ordunun, donanmanın, hazinenin, zabıtanın,
it could be separated from each other by a certain line. Public and private terms can not be directly attributed to specific volumes or spaces. We usually accept the house as a private space. However when we examine the subspaces of the house and the relation between them and outer spaces, we see the privacy does not work completely and homogeneous at everywhere.
Public (noun) 1. Cumhur, millet, halk, ortalık, amme, alem 2. Kendi şahsı namına, has, mahsus şeklinde 3. umumi, amm, umum indinde malum olan, alenen vaki olan, aleni.
Private 1. Halvete mahsus, mahsus, has, 2. gizlü, saklu, hafi, mektum: mahremane: 3. resmi ve miri yahud ticarete umum olmayub ahad-ı nasa ve umur-ı zatiyeye mahsus, adi, zati, ferdi Privacy 1. Halvet, tenhalık, yalnızlık. 2. Halvet, tenha yer, köşe, köşe-i inziva, nihanhane, gizlilik, mektumiyet
HOUSE PRIVACY ANALYSIS That could not be said that private and public life in the social context constitute a polarity as it is here in Western Europe. It is impossible in the Ottoman Empire to distinguish between public life and private life. People go out into the neighborhood with their daily clothes that they used in their homes and sit and chat in the coffee house as if they were sitting at home. Coffeehouses were like an extension of great room and there is no edge or a border that reminded them the distinction between private and public space. After all this information, we wanted to explore the structure of the housing and its sublayers to see how far the private and public space from each other whether or not
39
At this level these are some footages of the project would look like without going into detail. Besides the ordinary urban planning projects we refused to stick with the boundries of site and we refused to hold the boundries. We tried to examine the relationships between public and private and what is in their between which is what we know semi public spaces. And we wanted to soften this transition in theirs. At right image we tried to show that what we call is private as blacks is always near by the public and there is no between in them. And lines intersecting them also shows us how a private space could be public in a second for example having a guests in our houses and all these happens in circles what we call neighbourhoods where urban life and scale happens around us.

Viaduct
Nautilus avm can leave a human density on the land and in Marmaray causes density changes in land periphery deThe viaduct on the west of the land and the highway passthe same way it can collect this density to itself. Therefore it pending on the time of day. Therefore it is necessary to meet ing over it causes noise. Therefore, there is a need to rise at is necessary to meet with a void between with a void between this point of the site
Settlements The northern and southern settlements of the land are completely different from each other. Therefore, it is intended to counterbalance the periphery in the southern faรงade. On the other hand, setup was planned to infiltrate the walls on the north side.
42
Linkages Dividing the site into regions throuhg linkages
Niches According to the relationships between context creating squares or niches and articulation elements
Perspective Collage From An Interıor Garden We considered the main links to which the area could be connected or interacted with in relation to its surroundings. Sub-fields were created by these links. Area 1: The area where the culture house, Ayrılık Çeşmesi and the Nautilus defines the square. It has low building density and last bicycle station ramp. Area 2 : An area with a higher density of the building where another ramp is located and which has an educational space.
Area 3: The area has high building density and mixed use building at the end.
Then, floating building clusters created with following the prediction lines. After all of these layers, the ground was joined to unite and hold each other together. In terms of their relation to context, squares and niche Some buildings being elevated from the ground. It areas were formed on the periphery of these sub-areas. offered creation of public space, showing frame strucThese are the coffeehouse, education area and the ture and showing the life atmoshphere. COMPLETING THE SILUETTE
LIFTING THE BUILDING UP AND ENHANCE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BACK AND FRONT
Considering the function of the project, an uninterrupted pedestrian circulation was created between the street and the landscape by removing the building mass from the ground and lifting up and tearing the facade of old factory building at ground level to have free circulated ground circulation.
TEARING THE FACADE OF FACTORY BUILDING
Second approach to project was seeing the site as a whole between Birahane Street and Feriköy Fırını Street in order to design a topographic park that connects these two street. Under the building landscape is making a pit and creates an amphitheatre that works as multipurpose hall of the building.
WHILE GETTING CLOSED TO AND HISTORICAL BUILDING TRYING TO BE UNDER OF IT
As a decision of mass, a linear structure was obtained by expanding the borders of the factory building, which was present in order to protect the existing silhouette, along the boulevard street.

Bu sürecin başında ‘machine in the garden’ yani bahçedeki makine ile başlarken bugünün dünyasında oluşturduğumuz şehirlerin ‘garden in the machine’ yani makinedeki bahçe olduğunu görmekteyiz.(2) Hızlı nüfus artışının yanında, sektörlerin de ivme kazanması sonucu yoğun ve büyük şehirler, metropoller ortaya çıktı.

Retreat Center In BURGAZADA Spring 2017 tutors:Aslıhan Demirtaş,Orkun Beydağı
The project, aiming for functions in the traditional sense, except for the administration and service areas, consists of 5 elemental spaces defined by different sizes and materials. The main idea of the project was theoretically carving out a flatland and to make a land articulation puting back what it carved during that process. Working in such a site like Burgazada, Martha Bay,slope of the land was an advantage to use.
60
To make an land articulation in that site instead of working on plan with izohips, drawing different sections of the site and designing them based on architectural tectonics and how dramatic a land part could be. So next step was to make an effect like carving out and putting back soil how it is going to be solved. Based on soil and its physical and chemicals it has sand and gravel on top and clay and silt in the middles. That clay and silt part allows itself to fill with water into its pores so basicly it stores water and that water volume defines the skeleton of the soil. The diagrams shows that to make a pothole or a hole in land you need to suck all the water inside that soil so soil goes down. On the other hand to make soil level higher it needs more water than it already has.

21
During that process to get the best section, besides working on paper to design, making conceptual section models were very helpful to think at the same time section level and plan level. Also being on the land, under the land itself creates a problem in terms of circulation, ramps, stairs etc. What kind of slab or ceiling cover us and how we are walking on them was main questions. Also creating splits on the slab and getting the water into space with itselfs moisture adds up to design to retreat center
63
While going on the process of project, making models of 1/50 scaled wall and experimenting on the material “concrete” and how it will be react the based on its ingredients such as water, cement, sand. In the cups ı tried different amounts of each ingredient and it gave me different pattern to build a wall

STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS II Spring 2017 tutor:Ali Onat Türker partnered w/Muhammed Aydem,Lütfü Emir Yılmaz
In that study we tried to examine structural tectonics that baloon frame has staticly and tectonicly. While doing that the elements that have been used were non-rigid magnets. To understand the how load is flowing and sharing with each other.
In that study we tried to examine how a structure of a building could be on the facade and how will it be react to different kinds of forces When we apply lateral from the edges of structure it was rigid. But when we apply the lateral force from the middle, because of the metal parts are not fixed it tried to bend itself. That is why we tried to brace these parts

68
It was a project based on material and working on 1/1 scale, with making experiments and designing a canopy in the middle of amphi space where most of the students come together during the day at Kadir Has University. To make such a hands on structure some rules are set. According to these rules bamboo was picked because bamboo is light, flexible and it works both compression and tension The design of this canopy with using
bamboo stick together and taping them each other was creates a beam that works as a concole because of flexibility and gravity also to control the bending of this beam we used ropes to tie and created one module of how it could define a space underneath, one single module rotates itself 360 degree and ties itself in bottom, middle and top and covers with a membrane to get away the raining water. While making the models of beam to stabilized the joints
of bamboos with tape the tape because of its materiality and its flexibilty caused deformations and in some levels caused cracks that is why after that period we start to use metal clamps to make the beam more rigid on their joints

DESIGN METHODS AND PRAXIS Fall 2017 tutor:Sait Ali Köknar partnered w/ Muhammed Aydem,Lütfü Emir Yılmaz The research is about understanding the design methodology. We wanted to grasp that how design occurs, how it works and what is the mechanism of the design. HISTORIES OF ARCHITECTURAL IMAGE Spring 2019 tutor:Ali Taptık
...Arnavutköy is an example of a paradigmatic urban periphery settled after large rural migration to Istanbul in the second half of the 20th century. While the region started as a rural settlement at the periphery, it became a place of increasing population due to the migration process and the people who live here is changed in time too. Arnavutköy, which is geographically closer to the center of the Istanbul and providing communication by establishing bridges with these settlements, generally emerges as a result of migration steps and immigrant networks.
72
Arnavutköy is a process of being urban but now it is in the middle between rural and urban. Because of the evolution of daily life and life style Arnavutköy is becoming more urban and that creates a threshold between a city life and slums which has big gardens that people planting their food and poultry. All of these difference between depends on the change in scale and planning of it. ...

SpaceSlum was an atelier about “recyling” directed by Atıl Aggündüz in Gebze Technical University created by their architectural club named “MiTA”. Materials we used for atelier were gathered from the neighbourhood to re-use and produce in seven different atelier. SpaceSlum as it called by the name designing a slum located between earth and mars in 2050’s with recyled materials. In order to that we as participants needed to create a storyline that include the data that shapes our slum. To sum up the story, SpaceSlum is a shanty that has a bazaar for armors that produced illegaly for people got thick, trees bearing sausage that makes you high, freakshows, alienfights, sleepnuts doormens and so more. 75

The main thing behind the workshop was how to represent better the spaces that change by our movements, looking at them in a different point of view. Because of it is a one day job it should be places in the school so we can observe them and get the data out of it. For this workshop we picked the canteen and we spesificly choosed an object that is table. And how it is left by users in the space. Each box is a left out table after used by users. Juxtoposition of each different situation gave us the actual story of a table in this workshop.
