Volunteering Community Development Get involved in: Helping with outreach to our community Being part of the local business forum Developing relationships with local businesses and residents Assisting with general administration Active communication with local businesses and residents Producing and distributing marketing materials and more
What skills and experiences are required? Strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications and confident speaking with people face to face, online and via telephone. Experience with social media for online marketing communications: blogs, forums and social networking sites (especially Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook) Project planning: strong project planner, experience of working as a team and accurate record keeping Understanding of online monitoring tools - web & social media analytics is desirable Proficient in Microsoft Office Understanding and experience of community and events Strong interest in community development and our work Pro-active and creative approach, willingness to learn are essential
Volunteering Heritage & Archive
Get involved in: Creating a permanent heritage programme Research about the history of Oxford House Illustrating how communities in Bethnal Green have influenced Oxford House’s history; especially the role of new communities Revealing the heritage of Weavers Fields; from pre-clearance to Green Flag Park Revealing/sharing stories of Oxford House, founders, residents, and local people’s experiences What skills and experiences are required? Strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications and confident speaking with people You’ll enjoy working with people, but you’ll also be able to work independently Proficient in Microsoft Office. Understanding of charity sector Strong interest in heritage, history and our work. Pro-active, creative approach and willingness to learn are essential
Volunteering Photographer
Get involved in: Helping create visuals for marketing purposes Events photography Supporting our stories with strong pictures Building an image bank of Bethnal Green Revealing/sharing stories of Bethnal Green and Oxford House via photography
What skills and experiences are required? Confident speaking with people Experience and interest in photography You’ll enjoy working with people, but you’ll also be able to work independently Proficient in Microsoft Office Experience with photo editing is desirable Understanding of deadlines Pro-active, creative approach and willingness to learn are essential
Volunteering Journalist/Blogger Get involved in: Helping to produce our written presence online Exploring and looking for stories Watching shows and concerts and creating their reviews Writing press releases Producing articles about all our activities Revealing/sharing news and stories of Bethnal Green and Oxford House via articles and much more What skills and experiences are required? Very strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications and confident speaking with people You’ll enjoy working with people, but you’ll also be able to work independently Interest and passion for writing Proficient in Microsoft Office Understanding of deadlines Pro-active, creative approach and willingness to learn are essential
Volunteering Gallery & Arts
Get involved in: Helping curate shows and planning future events Helping artists during installations and take-down of exhibitions Creating copy for exhibitions inc distribution of publicity Producing and distributing marketing materials Audience development through evaluation of shows Looking after gallery space as required inc light housekeeping Assisting in Private View events, provide excellent customer service and welcome guests in a professional manner. Events management What skills and experiences are required? Strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications and confident speaking with people Strong Interest in Arts Experience with social media for online marketing communications: blogs, forums and social networking sites Project planning: strong project planner, experience of working as a team and accurate record keeping Visual ability eg efficient in photography, photo editing and basic design skills Proficient in Microsoft Office. Understanding and experience of gallery and events Interest in our work. Pro-active, creative approach and willingness to learn are essential
Volunteering Fundraising Get involved in: Researching funding proposals Budgeting projects costs Research in-house income-generation ideas Design and market a sponsorship package Research and apply for funding (trusts, organisations) Researching new ways of generating income and accessing funding
