AS AN NWEC SUBSIDIARY, WE’RE READY TO BE your local propane partner!

Did you know that North Western Electric Cooperative started a propane subsidiary company in 2017 to help offset costs for co-op members?

NW Ohio Propane continues to grow and expand, now offering services in NW Ohio, NE Indiana, and southern Michigan. By utilizing the co-op’s 85-plus years of customer service expertise and small-town neighbors-helping-neighbors mentality, NW Ohio Propane is becoming the propane company of choice for our community. To take advantage of NWOP’s affordable, competitive

pricing and service, visit www.nwohiopropane.com or call 844-636-NWOP (6967).

Why did NWEC start a propane company?

NWEC is always looking for opportunities to provide better service. For several years now we have been talking about an “all of the above” approach to energy. We currently have coal, natural gas and renewable sources in our energy portfolio so we started looking at other alternatives.

Where did the money come from?

NWEC had the building and the assets available already. Initially, the co-op funded NWOP.

Who gets the profits if NWEC owns the business?

Profits go back into our electric co-op to help us improve the reliability of your electric service.

Does owning the propane company increase my electric bill?

No, and it may actually defer future rate increases for our electric member-owners. If NWEC can use the profits from the propane business to make improvements and expansions to our electric system, then we may not need to increase electric rates.

Will I get a discount because I’m an NWEC member-owner?

No, the propane rates will be based on a minimal margin, just like your current electric rates.

Why not put all that money into renewable resources?

Renewable energy is too intermittent and too price sensitive to make massive investments in at this time.

Where does propane come from?

Approximately 90% of the United States’ propane supply is produced domestically. Propane is a byproduct of natural gas processing and crude oil refining.
