Fans cool people, not rooms.
Fans move air to create a cooling effect on skin, but they do not actually lower the temperature of your home. Fans are a great way to save on cooling costs in the summer; just be sure to turn them off when you leave the room.
As we have all seen over the past few years, the energy world is becoming an increasingly challenging place. Energy providers like us are navigating risks to electric-grid reliability, supply-chain disruptions, record high demands, and much more. During times like these, it is so important to stay connected and ensure that you have access to all the information that you need from us.
One of the important topics that we have been covering this year is rising costs for energy, labor and equipment, and the need to adjust rates to keep up. In February, we sent out a membership-wide survey to gauge your feelings and preferences for how we handle our rates. As always, your feedback is driving our decision-making process and helping us determine how to best serve you.
You can rest assured that even though costs are rising, we will not be facing anything close to the 28% increases that have hit customers of some of the larger, investor-owned utilities in our area this summer. Because we are part-owners of our energy supplier, Buckeye Power, our members have stability even through di cult market conditions.
As we do periodically, we have been working through a detailed cost-of-service study this year. We have also been analyzing your survey responses and having in-depth discussions with our board of trustees to determine how to best meet your needs and adapt to the changing economy. If we need to make adjustments (and we expect we will), you will see clear and frequent communications well beforehand.
From our annual meeting and Brews & Views to member surveys, we are thankful for the ways that you continually engage with us. We remain diligent in taking intentional steps to inform, empower, and connect with you through challenging times, and it is so valuable for us to hear your input, questions, and ideas as we forge our paths forward.
We hope that you will stay tuned to our communications channels to ensure that you hear about key cooperative and community updates, e ciency programs, outage restorations, future events, political action opportunities through programs like Voices for Cooperative Power (VCP), and more. From this magazine and our e-newsletter to our social media pages and website, we o er many ways for you to stay up to date.
Thank you for caring about your cooperative and your communities. Please let us know if you have any thoughts or questions about how we can best connect with you.
