WHAT’S AHEAD
Rural Americans established electric cooperatives to power the countryside during the Great Depression. That life-changing event led to growth, economic security, and unmatched political strength. We have built on that foundation through the generations.
Today, we facilitate opportunity and prosperity across our service area. South Central Power delivers safe, dependable service to more than 123,000 accounts across parts of 24 Ohio counties. But we recognize we were established to do more than provide power. We are here to power our communities and empower you, our members, to improve the quality of your lives.

As you’ve seen in the pages in this annual report, our focus never wavers — it’s all about you. As we power ahead, we are excited about our plans to continue adding value to the lives of our members.
Here’s what you can look forward to in 2023 and beyond:
• Delivery of broadband to the homes of members in the far eastern and western portions of our service territory — currently in the design / engineering phase, and expected to start connecting homes in 2024
• Smart grid technology benefits such as real-time system data and information, communication between substations and devices, faster outage restoration times, and improved power quality, lower wholesale power costs, and different rate structures
• A redesigned website with new features expected to launch in the summer/fall of this year
• Continued investment in our transmission system, substations, poles, and other equipment
• Continued investment in vegetation management to reduce potential outages
