WILLIAM DAY AWARD

Named in honor of Dr. William Day, former Dean of the College of Business, this award recognizes a student for outstanding academic achievement including multicultural experience and language proficiency.

HELLEBRANDT AWARDS

This award was established in honor of Dr. Edwin T Hellebrandt, a distinguished member of the College of Business’ management systems department for more than 50 years. The award seeks to recognize students for outstanding achievement during their undergraduate years at Ohio University.

DAVID AND RUTH RICHMOND AWARD

This award is named for Dr. David Richmond, a marketing professor who retired in 1984, and his wife, Ruth. The award is given to a senior who has displayed leadership as a marketing major and has a minimum GPA of a 3.2. In addition to GPA, students are selected based on work experience, academic activities, a written essay about the marketing major, and recommendations from marketing faculty.

This award goes to a CRC Fellow who has made a significant impact on the CRC Fellow program through their leadership and contributions.

This award goes to an organization that has made a significant impact on Ohio University and the Athens community, provided innovative programming, excellent recruitment and development of members, and actively supports the mission of the College of Business.

Ohio University Consulting Fellows President: Allie Richards

SENIOR CLASS FOR THE COB FACULTY RECOGNITION AWARD Kate Keifer, Senior Lecturer Kate Keifer has been teaching for 17 years in the College of Business and four years in the School of Accountancy. She spent 13 years teaching finance, most of which were taught in the Integrated Business Cluster. Prior to teaching, she worked in assurance and business advisory services for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (Columbus, Ohio). She was the lead senior associate on her firm’s largest client and had significant involvement in spinoff, split-off, and other divestiture transactions. Kate is a licensed CPA and holds a B.S. (Commerce) and M.S. (Accounting) from the University of Virginia and a M.B.A. from Ohio University.

This award goes to a senior sport management student who has demonstrated strong leadership that made significant impact on his or her peers in the sport management program.

BRAD MOOREHEAD SCHOLARSHIP

This award goes to a senior sport management student that has demonstrated academic aptitude with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarship applicants must participate in an essay competition, and the most compelling essay is awarded the scholarship. This award honors Brad Moorhead, a former sport management student who tragically passed away in an auto accident in 2004.

THE DOW FINSTERWALD SCHOLARSHIP

This award honors Dow Finsterwald, AB ’52, who joined the PGA Tour shortly after graduating from Ohio University and eventually won the PGA Championship in 1958. The award recipient is an undergraduate sports management student seeking a summer internship with the PGA Tour.

This award goes to a marketing student that is interested in a career of selling tangible items, rather than services. The award is named after Robert Axline, ’57, a former Foundation Board member and dedicated alumnus.

THE TOM STARR “MIRACLES FOR LIFE” SCHOLARSHIP

This award is given to an undergraduate student that is a member of the Candidate Advisory Council within the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. The award honors Tom Starr, BBA ’69, who helped found the Schey Sales Centre and made a successful career working for the Xerox Corporation before returning to his alma mater as an executive-in-residence.

This award is given to an undergraduate student that serves on the Candidate Advisory Council (CAC) within the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. The award honors the life of James Wycoff, BA ’71, who served on numerous OU advisory boards and was a big supporter of his alma mater.

THE WEIDEMER SALES CENTRE AWARD

This endowment funds the greatest areas of need for the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. The award honors Richard Wiedemer, BBA ’92, a valued member of the OU Foundation Board of Trustees.

This award is given to an undergraduate student that is also a member of the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. The award honors Scott Durcanin, class of ’85, who has had a successful professional career working for blue-chip companies like 3M, Merrill Lynch and Charles Schwaub.

This award is given to a junior or senior student that is a member of the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. The award recipient must have a 2.5 GPA, minimum, as well as the intention to pursue a career in sales.

MIKE CADY AND CHRIS JOHNSON “DOER” AWARD FOR PROVEN ABILITY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

This award is given to a junior student that fulfills several criteria, including serving in a leadership position within the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, serving in a leadership position for another student organization, maintaining a 3.0 GPA, as well as ten hours of community service in the past six months. Candidates will submit a professional resume and a two-page essay that explains why they are a “doer”. The award was made possible by Ohio University graduates Mike Cady, BSC ’01, and Chris Johnson, BBA ’00.

The award is given to four senior students that are members of the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre. Successful applicants will have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to the principles of the Sales Centre. The award honors the life of Ralph Schey, BSCO ’48, who served as CEO of Scott and Fetzer, as well as his wife, Luci, a lifelong OHIO supporter.

STUDENT AWARDS BANQUET R. BUDD AND JANET KELSEY WERNER EXECUTIVE SERVICE AWARD Steve Krebs earned a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering, with honors, from the Ohio University Russ College of Engineering and Technology in 1992. While attending Ohio University, Steve was very active in campus life. He played trumpet for five seasons in the Marching 110, was a member of Theta Tau professional engineering fraternity, served on the Engineering Student Council and the Homecoming Committee, and held officer positions in Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and Mortar Board Honor Society. Upon graduation from OHIO, Steve joined Houston, TexasSteven Krebs based Cooper Industries in their rotational Manufacturing Training Program. When he left Cooper after six years of engineering and operations to attend graduate school full time, Steve was a Business Unit Manager in Cooper’s Crouse-Hinds Division (now Eaton Corporation). Upon earning an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2000, Steve joined Dell in Austin, Texas. He gained tremendous functional breadth at Dell, working in Engineering, B-2-B Marketing, Finance, Audit, and Business Operations, including integrating the $4 billion acquisition of IT services provider Perot Systems in Dallas, Texas. In 2014, Steve decided to take a different course by entering the private equity space. His first opportunity was working for TPG Capital after their equity infusion at Chobani, leading transformational cost-out programs. He then served as the Vice President of Operations in Frisco, Texas at Cornerstone Automation Systems, followed by becoming the Chief Operating Officer of Control Company in Houston Texas. Control Company was sold in late 2017 to a strategic buyer and Steve led the integration efforts and subsequently departed in 2018. Later in 2018, Steve accepted a position as the Vice President of Global Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering at Emerson’s Valve Actuation business unit in Houston, Texas. He currently has global responsibility for 10 manufacturing plants producing pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators for the oil and gas, chemical, and waste water industries. Steve has been an active supporter of Ohio University, presenting and providing business overviews and tours to the OHIO Business Fellows and Select Leaders programs, and recruiting interns and graduating seniors from the College of Business. He joined the College of Business Executive Advisory Board in 2011 and currently serves as Chairman. In 2017, the Krebs proudly established the Steven & Patricia Krebs scholarship within the College of Business. Steve and his wife Tricia (a 1994 graduate of Ohio University) currently live in Friendswood, Texas, with their two children. 21


AWARD FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN BUSINESS Ron Calhoun received his B.B.A. from Ohio University in 1972 and is current President of Beta Theta Pi’s Ohio University Beta Kappa Chapter House Corporation. Currently Ron serves as President and CEO of The Palmer Donavin Manufacturing Company, a distributor of building materials, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.

Ron Calhoun

Ron currently serves his industry as Board Chair for National Association of Wholesalers Institute for Distribution Excellence, and current board member of Nemeon, an industry buying group, and a past President of National Building Material Distribution Association. He also serves his community as board member for The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, and serves as board member for I Am Boundless, a nonprofit servicing the needs of the developmental disabled. He and his wife Laura (a 1973 graduate of Ohio University) reside in Dublin, OH. They have a son, Patrick, and daughter, Katie (a 2004 graduate of Ohio University).
