Sustainable Restaurant Design Competition [Group] 2013
LUX
LUX, derived from luxury, luxus (German), and luxe (French), Hints at the high end character of the restaurant in an abstract way. Lux is also the unit that measures illuminance, a subtle nod to the restaurant’s imbedded illuminance on the mountainside. The intent of this project was to develop a highly unique dining and entertainment experience. The two lenses through which the design was approached were sustainability and luxury, aiming to cater to the tastes of a high end consumer while making environmentally conscious decisions and specifications. Each space was truly designed from the perspective of the user, thinking carefully about how the physical aspects of the space were working together to create the ambiance of luxury, simplicity, and warmth. Original vision and responsible application were balanced in the design of this project to product a timeless environment with minimal negative impact on its surrounding environment.
LUX
CONCEPTUAL SITE PLAN.
Marketing the restaurant to guests already on foot discourage additional carbon emissions from transportation.
EXTERIOR ELEVATION.
Earth-sheltered structures are less susceptible to the extreme outdoor temperatures, making them most efficient in climates with temperature extremes. Earth integration also increases efficient storm water management. The natural slope of the site also provides opportunity for harvesting rainwater for reuse. In addition to this strategy, gray water storage will also be incorporated on the site, reusing water from dish washing for other uses and reducing the amount of fresh water wasted in the building.

Villa Pergantian
VILLA design to be an enjoyable and luxury VIP resort with great view of Subak, paddy rice fields, in Ubud Bali Indonesia. Ubud is a peaceful little town in the central Bali. It is known as the most fascinating city of Asia by CondÊ Nast Traveler. The main agriculture that plants here is rice with some other crops grow in tropical climate. Ubud is the area surround with terrence rice fields with 200 meters above sea level. Paddy rice field is also recognized as Subak, the name of water management (irrigation) system. There are couple more different landscape sense in this area, such as Beach (southwest, near Banjarangkan), Hills (Setting up as rice terraces), Lowlands (Most of lowlands use for growing rice), Mountains (It’s to the east near Sideman) and River (The longest river in this region). Around the Ubud area, there are some villages are well known for unique bamboo crafts and furniture, wood and stone carving and many other crafts. As everyone knows Bali is a popular place for holiday destination. You can find sort of villas to accommodate customer. However, I used traditional Balinese architecture style with modern interior support, so while client are enjoy raw landscape, they can still enjoy comfortable modern furniture and privet swimming pool.
Pergantian

This area is still being pretty underdeveloped and traditional, with an abundance of wildlife, tropical forest, traditional terraces rice field, and rich artist inference, it is expected to attract the specific target of tourists who would love to experience different way of vocation or even take the villa as their annual summer get away house.

I think flying all the way from other country should see or experience like native. That is another reason why I put this villa in the middle of rice field. It encourages people to stay not just for couple days but longer period to see the changing on different season and also different stages for rice growing, from green to golden. Also I have been reading couple reports, they talked foreigner took over the land to build more villas. By reduce the villa could give the land back for native.
