This month I found myself pondering why the Internet has revolutionised the way we shop on such a large scale. Because of the numerous advantages and benefits, more and more people these days prefer buying things online over the conventional method of going into stores. Don’t get me wrong I’m still ‘Team Shop’ for the experience and aesthetic of it all, but, I do find myself recognising that convenience is the biggest perk that shoehorns me to shop online. Where else can you comfortably shop at midnight whilst laying in your pyjamas? There are no lines to wait in or cashiers to track down to help you with your purchases, and you can do your shopping in minutes. Online shops give us the opportunity to shop 24/7. Also, there is more variety. The choices online are amazing. You can find almost any brand or item you’re looking for. You can get in on the latest international trends without spending money on airfare. A far greater selection of colours and sizes than you will find locally are at your disposal. Plus, the stock is much more plentiful, so you’ll always be able to find your size and colour. Some online shops even accept orders for out-of-stock items and ship when they come in - hurrah! Sending gifts to relatives and friends is easy, no matter where they are. All the packaging and shipping is done for you. Often, they’ll even gift wrap it for you! Now, there is no need to make distance an excuse for not sending a gift on occasions... The older I’m getting the more I’m finding that I’m sounding just like my mother. Now, on that rather bewildering note, I’m off to enjoy my Pumpkin Spiced Latte which has finally (and thankfully) made its inaugural return to The Middle East.

Embodying a folkloric spirit, the Fall Winter 2019 collection roams from the Rue Saint-Honoré to Brest and far beyond, reminiscing upon cinematic and literary personas through history. Reviving Lanvin’s playful narrative in a symphony of romantic archetypes, Sialelli draws upon a multitude of moods: from nautical to bucolic, regal to childlike, the collection personifies lyrical conversations in cloth. Pre-Raphaelite colours depart from Lanvin ‘quattrocento’ blue into powdery shades of
avocado, absinthe, banana and bergamot warmed by mahogany, navy, tomato and a blaze of ultraviolet. F
amily, the cultural continuity between generations, and power – all have been central to the spirit of Salvatore Ferragamo. It is a quiet power that distinguishes the house, a power Paul Andrew and Guillaume Meilland explore for Autumn/Winter 2019 and figure into the zeitgeist as an antidote to its pervasive unrest. The revelation comes in a kaleidoscopic display of identity and all its nuance: impossible to characterise in one attitude or gesture, their women refuse easy definitions and instinctively embrace a politics of togetherness. nown as the dressmaker to some of the most glamorous people of the contemporary world, from globetrotting, jet-setting gals to artists and celebrities, the Valli Girls. Giambattista Valli created a feisty collection for H&M that reads like an eclectic recap of his style. He calls it an “abecedario”, apropos, which in Italian means a dictionary. The collection: a selection of timeless pieces meant to be mixed and matched according to personal style; items designed to last and be cherished for a long time. It’s all about style more than fashion. Giambattista Valli, in fact, believes that one half of the work is done in the atelier, while the rest is up to the clients and their personalities. ahrain’s independent jewellery designer, Azza Al Hujairi, participated at the Metal & Smith Fall Edit for the first time. Bahraini Jewellery designer Azza Al Hujairi showcased her designs at the prestigious Metal & Smith Show in New York City. The Fine Jewellery brand, Azza, has built a reputation in the Middle East for having unique and fashion-forward pieces that reflect the designer’s inspiration from history and mythology connected to Bahrain. The designer is mostly popular for introducing pearls into everyday wear as contemporary pieces of jewellery, making them coveted by millennials, gift shoppers, and the international market. Metal & Smith (www.metalandsmith.com) is an event for Emerging Designers who seek quality engagement. The show was held over two days, which is why they are extremely selective, where only 40 international designers were chosen to share their collections with editors, retailers, stylists, and influencers.

HydroPeptide facials are designed to leave skin youthfully plump, smooth, radiant and visibly lifted, in one treatment, with continued improvement in the days after. Powerful peptides instantly restore healthy skin structure and hydration. After changing into my fluffy robe and slippers I laid down on the heated treatment bed as I was asked as to whether or not I wanted the curtains to be closed. being removed and enjoying a facial massage concoction of HydroStem and Soothing Balm products that were worked between my therapists hands. I was advised after the treatment that my skin was dehydrated as it quite literally drank up this solution, whereas other skin types would have had a steamed towel to remove the excess. Before and after applying Nordic Detox Mask onto our skin – their rich cocktail of antioxidants that encourage healthy cell turnover and provides powerful protection from free radicals - she went on with a lymphatic face drainage, massaging firmly and deeply our face with different serums, allowing them to penetrate into deeper layers and clean our face from toxins. The add-on eye treatment further amplified the luxury of it all. She opted for an oil-free moisturiser as per our skin concerns and topped it with an SPF 30 mineral non-tinted moisturiser. We were impressed with the products that we couldn’t help but leave with both the cleanser and toner to elongate the fabulous results. Honestly, I left glowing and it this sense of glow wasn’t just skin-deep. The tinted moisturiser is renowned for being chemical free and blends to your own skin tone, immediately giving a glow and natural look. We much appreciated the massage on our decolletage that really helped to relax and heighten the experience. I think I fell asleep, which is a first for me, but I can officially say that I received a bonus of some added (and much needed!) beauty sleep. Lastly, our lips felt plumped and slightly tingling thanks to the powerful lip balm that they applied. Perfecting Gloss contains fresh chili and hyaluronic acid which helps boost the lips circulation and plumps them out. Angelina Jolie, step aside. This was truly a one-of-a-kind treatment that we thoroughly enjoyed as Arline adjusted the facial steps and botanical products to our identified concerns of the day – dullness, uneven tone, and combination skin – with her own identified concerns – congestion around the nose area. I start my day... My day starts with coffee, music, and positive energy. I usually get up excited for the upcoming things in my life, so I’d definitely say I’m a morning person. My role is… I am the Ferrari Marketing & PR Manager at Euro Motors which is the official dealer of Ferrari in Bahrain. “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” is my favourite mantra to live by and I can honestly say that I do. A Day in the Life of Noor. Let me tell you one thing about myself, I like having a busy life full of new challenges and routines, so, I like change! This is the main reason why I’m productive in my role. Marketers need to think out of the box and keep their eyes open with any new updates and trends. I believe having a plan is the key to success, as I always quote “The difference between setting a goal and achieving it is in having a good plan and working it.” - Les Brown. However, my day always starts with my ‘To-do-list’ that makes me accomplish whatever is needed on time and go the extra mile. How I got into the automobile industry. I loved Marketing since I was 16 years old. Hence, I studied Marketing at the University of Bahrain and continued my professional studies band achieving my CIM professional certificate in Marketing from Chartered University. My career started in the motoring sector and here I am, passionate about both Marketing and the automobile industry! As a fresh graduate, I joined Zayani Motors – the official dealer of Mitsubishi, MG, FUSO in Bahrain in 2014 as their Marketing Executive,
after two years I got promoted to Senior Marketing Executive. In 2017, I got the offer to be Ferrari Marketing Manager at Euro Motors and I’ve been here ever since. I have lived in Bahrain for... I am originally Bahraini and lived here my whole life. My goal in life is to become one of the first lady ambassadors in my industry and make my country proud. I experienced challenges with… The biggest challenge that I overcame would be when I joined Ferrari with a completely different marketing strategy and target market than what I was used to. It took me a few months to get to know the market, the brand guidelines, policy and procedures. My most memorable work moment was… When I received the official email from Ferrari stating that I was qualified for the world finals of the Testa Rossa Awards and compete for the title of Top Ferrari Marketing Executive which involved 12 selected contestants to become “The Best of the Best” and have the responsibility and privilege to represent my region in this challenge. Eligibility for this award is based on brand understanding, genuine ideas and concepts, prospect generation and ROI, marketing plan and KPI achievement which I’m very proud was recognised and acknowledged in this way. Here’s what I’m looking forward to this year… Of course, the first thing I look forward to personally is to be a better person than last year. Career wise, I would like to win the 2019 Testa Rossa Award and become the Best Ferrari Marketing Manager in the World. I also want to put Bahrain on the world map and organise more international events in Bahrain like the “Ferrari Challenge 2019” event that happened in February at Bahrain International Circuit. After work... I always make sure that I maintain a healthy lifestyle which is key to my success. Is this even real life? We’re greeted by Vakkaru’s warm staff at the arrivals lounge in Malé, which is packed with light refreshments, delicious snacks and drinks and a very comfortable seating area. For those who may have come off a long flight and need

a relaxing rinse, you can do this here. The best bit? You look right onto the docking area for the seaplanes – and soon, we’re hopping onto one for our 35-minute journey to the picture-perfect Vakkaru Maldives. For those who may have a fear of small planes, you can rest-assured that safety is paramount before departing. On arrival at the resort, staff await with drinks, and voila, we’re in paradise.
SUITE INDULGENCE When it comes to accommodation, Vakkaru Maldives is the embodiment of what you imagine the Maldives has to offer. From beach suites to overwater villas and everything in between, the resort has the ideal choices for couples, groups of friends and families too. There are lush intimate Beach Bungalows all the way up to the big and beautiful four-bedroom Overwater Pool Residence. We check into the lavish Beach Pool Suite with direct beach access and views for days (that’s your next post for the ‘gram sorted). There’s too much to take in, but we’re especially blown away by the breezy open-air vibes and beach house meets tropical touch décor. Drawing on the rich traditions of the locale, design elements are focused on Maldivian style fused with the finest natural elements as we wanted to preserve the integrity of local architecture with a contemporary style. The result is the creation of amazing spaces for guests to connect with each other and the environment around them. We can attest to this being 100 percent effective! The outdoor rain shower is an absolute highlight, made for those Snapchat stories to garner all the FOMO from your followers. There’s a separate living room which is SO comfy for afternoon naps and quiet reads whilst the 32m2 private pool and private beachfront terrace make outdoor living a necessity here. You accommodation faces the azure waters of the lagoon and at every turn you’ll find that, visually, Vakkaru Maldives is EVERYTHING it promises to be. Don’t forget to make the most of all the different areas within your private quarters to top up the tan and swim to your heart’s content. The standouts of this suite were in the little details. It is, hands down, one of the best gourmet mini bars of any hotel we’ve ever stayed in. To top this off, you get all your standard amenities like cosy slippers and bathrobes, and sustainable luxury bathroom amenities. Like in all the rooms, Vakkaru goes the extra mile to provide guests with sunbeds and yoga mats, a beach bag and flip flops, bicycles and even butler service. What more could you ask for? The Overwater Villa we stayed in for the last couple of nights was nothing short of wanderlust dreams. The ultimate romantic hideaway set over the turquoise lagoon, the Overwater Villas are elegantly designed

for two adults looking to appreciate the wonder of their aquatic surroundings. At 140m2, space is no issue whilst the private overwater sundeck, massive king bed with exquisite pure cotton bed linen, and direct lagoon access, are just some of the great benefits of opting for this cosy villa. One feature to highlight would be that guests receive a notification on their TV for each prayer time – brilliant. Again, it’s the neutral interiors and, more specifically, the best bathtub we’ve ever experienced, that leads us to say that this could very well be the number one luxury accommodation that we have encountered in all of our travels. ndigo Restaurant and Bar at The Merchant House is a fabulous spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a beautiful garden terrace that one cannot help but adore. Executive Chef Rob Shipman is a renowned artisan in the kitchen which allows every visit here to be one where you’re left wholeheartedly satisfied. I’d never had the privilege of indulging in breakfast there, so, I took this as the perfect opportunity to rabble my girlfriends together and head towards The Merchant House. An added bonus of visiting here is that you can use their handy valet service, so you aren’t wasting time looking for a parking spot. Girls just want to have fun (and food) after all. Chef Rob spent months developing this menu of over twenty dishes, and it’s every bit the decadent and rich items that you’d come to expect of him. This is a restaurant that continues to push the envelope in Bahrain, and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying one of their dinners, you’d know what I mean. There are items on this menu that don’t exist elsewhere in town. So if you’re looking for a “treat yourself ” breakfast or a nice place to take your significant-other to start your weekend, I would recommend this. There are the familiar items you’d expect for breakfast, albeit executed very well with premium ingredients. Smoked Salmon with crushed avocado on sourdough bread had us all Instagram Ready as it was presented beautifully on a slate slab, but, it wasn’t long before we were making the most out of the sharing concept that’s welcomed here at Indigo. Just as well really, as the French Toast served with mixed berries and vanilla cream made its way to our table I thought there was going to be a fight as to who would have the first bite. I volunteered myself (as I’m kind like that), and it was masterful in every sense of the word. This brioche bread soaked in egg, vanilla and cinnamon had my tastebuds dancing for joy. The festivities continued as I indulged in the syrup that had been infused with coffee syrup, ground from the beans themselves in a pestle and mortar. Now, here’s a little nugget of knowledge for you… French Toast is translated into ‘Pain Perdu’ which means ‘lost bread’, and it’s rather ironic that after trying this that you’d find yourself certainly lost without this beauty besieging your options for breakfast on a morning in Bahrain. The Eggs and Avocado dish served with salsa verde aligns beautifully with the Mediterranean flair of Indigo. It’s serious

business. Of course, you also have classic Benedict’s and omelettes to appease your morning hunger pangs as well. The richness of hollandaise, and the creaminess of the egg just makes me very very happy when it comes to their Eggs Royale. Now, I can’t mention happiness without spotlighting The Blueberry Pancakes which are the lightest, tastiest ones I’ve ever had and are served with a decadent drizzle of blueberry syrup for extra bonus points. It’s some seriously intense stuff that is every bit as delicious as it is heart-stopping. Me? I love it. This must be what dreams are actually made of. As you scroll down the menu items get a little bit more intense - in a good way, of course. How about the Pytti Panna? It’s a dish consisting of sautéed sausages, bacon, potatoes and vegetables topped with sunny side up eggs… which if you’re unfamiliar, is pretty much the best melt-in-your-mouth dish you can put in your mouth. Trust me, I am a carnivorous enthusiast. Not enough food? How about the grilled Halloumi with smoked chipotle chilli jam, cherry tomatoes and date syrup? It’s a worthwhile visit when you want to have a nice start to your day or indeed to take someone out. I would recommend ordering three or four of the dishes and sharing them with your dining companion(s). Now, don’t be surprised to see me hanging out there crying tears of joy into my coffee (served with delicious homemade biscotti) at every exquisite dish that is served. Trust me, it is THAT amazing. Served from 06:30 to 10:30am and 11am on weekends makes sure that you have the perfect excuse not to stay at home. What’s better than breakfast in bed? Breakfast at Indigo at The Merchant House.

When searching for a quality motor vehicle that offers comfort and performance along with an aesthetically pleasing appearance, one cannot go far wrong with a BMW. When we at Ohlala heard about the all-new BMW X7 entering the Kingdom, we could not wait to organise a test drive. Thanks to the amazing team at Euro Motors, we soon found ourselves en route to turn this desire into a reality. Being the first of its kind, the all-new BMW X7 xDrive50i is unique in its design. This is a large vehicle; however, its imposing presence is balanced out by its classy appearance. The prominent front end of the vehicle demands attention with its bold lines whilst the largest ever kidney grille gives it a distinguished feel. The shapely front LED lights are fitted as standard. Side-on, the high ground clearance of the vehicle is obvious and combined with the 22-inch, lightalloy wheels, gives the BMW X7 a solid looking stance. The large windows and long roofline accentuate the size of this SUV whilst the beautifully designed fender vents add interest to the vehicle’s flanks. The rear end clearly shows the sizeable dimensions of the BMW X7, which the designers have broken up with horizontal lines. Stylish features including the wrap around tails lamps, lower rear bumper and chrome tipped exhausts all complement the tail end of the car.

DIVA Drives The optional smart key for the BMW X7 is very novel indeed. It allows one to not only do the basics such as locking, unlocking and opening of the boot, but also provides information on the car’s current status and allows one to alter various internal car settings from some distance away. Upon opening the doors of the vehicle, it was plain to see that BMW have successfully created their most luxurious SUV to date, one that is set to rival the likes of Range Rover. Along with this new standard of extravagance, this is also the brand’s very first true 7-seater SUV. Starting in the cabin area, we absolutely adored the Ivory White / Night Blue colour combo, along with the soft leather seating and beefy blue steering wheel. Glass effects on the start/stop button, shift lever and the volume knob accentuate the exclusive feel of this top-of-the-line SUV. The superb build quality of the entire cabin along with the use of highest-end materials and intricate finishings, left us hard pressed to think of any previous internal vehicle inspection, worthy of comparison to this level of opulence. The second row of seating offers a huge amount of space and comfortably seats three large adults. BMW have also ensured that parents will have an easy time fitting baby car seats in this row. The third row of seats offer ample room and all seating throughout the vehicle is heated. Four-zone climate control is fitted as standard along with a three-section panoramic glass roof and ambient lighting. The luggage compartment is a generous size; however, it is made all the more so at the push of a button located in the boot, that lowers both back rows of seating. The push of another button returns the seats to an upright position. The top of the dash houses a huge touchscreen that allows access to the latest version of iDrive. This user-friendly version displays hugely impressive graphics and resolution. The fully digital instrument cluster and the Control Display situated in front of the driver both feature a 12.3-inch screen. This system is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and ensures one has a positive, interactive experience. More than impressed with the aesthetics and functionality of the vehicle, we turned our attention to the all-important performance. The BMW X7 M50i is powered by a V8, 4.4 twin-turbo charged engine that produces 462 hp and 650 Nm of torque. This translates to a vehicle capable of surging from 0-100 km/h in around 5.3 seconds. Despite its large size, the BMW X7 carries itself with poise and grace offering stability, acceleration, breaking and handling of the highest standard. We could not believe how responsive this vehicle was and truly enjoyed every second of the ride. Along with the fantastic driving performance, BMW X7 features a full range of state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, especially designed to keep you in full control and your family safe, throughout the experience. The verdict? BMW have raised the bar in the luxury SUV segment to a height that most brands will never reach.
