Ohlone board member Nick Nardolillo resigns under criminal investigation scandal By MANIKA CASTERLINE Editor-in-Chief

After 15 years of serving on the Ohlone College Board Of Trustees, Trustee Nick Nardolillo has handed in a notice of resignation to President Gari Browning amid a firestorm of residency allegations by the Alameda County District Attorney’s office. Since spring, Nardolillo has been under investigation because he claims to be a Fremont resident, but has

been listing Livermore as his primary residency for multiple government documents, such as his tax return and board business. In his letter of resignation to President Browning, Nardolillo said that he was composing the letter with mixed emotions. In the pagelong letter, he omitted any discussion about why he was stepping down from elected office. “I am so proud to have seen

the positive development of Ohlone in these past 15 years while serving on the board,” Nardolillo said. “The one project I had hoped to see completed before I retired from the board was the development of our frontage property.” Nardolillo moved to Livermore in 2000 where he owns and operates White Crane Winery and Wild Vine wine and beer lounge. Nardolillo said that he rented a room from a friend

in Fremont located on Oak Street. However, when pressed on the issue of the Fremont residence this spring, Nardolillo could not recall the last night he had spent there; nor could the current resident. His former fiancée Carole Wigren lived with Nardolillo at the Livermore vineyard from just after he bought in 2000 until 2003. Nardolillo was unreachable for comment regarding

the allegations that has voter fraud. The phone listings for his Livermore businesses were disconnected and Wild Vine’s website domain name expired Oct. 23. Nardolillo’s attorney Leon Mezzetti Jr. also was unavailable for comment on Wednesday. Nardolillo was first elected to the board in 1996 and served as board president in 2000 and 2007. His retirement takes effect on Oct. 30.

Board of Trustees to change election system By MANIKA CASTERLINE Editor-in-Chief

Amid speculation that the Board of Trustees’ current election system is violating federal law, the board is looking at five possible options of changing it to be in compliance. While the city of Newark only comprises 16 percent of the district’s residents, Newark is considered as being over-represented on the Ohlone board since two out
