56 Grant Avenue occupies half the space of a cottage, with 58 Grant Avenue occupying the other half. The house features asymmetrical layout and façade, and a hipped roof of corrugated iron, leading to a veranda on the façade. The veranda is supported by a series of castiron columns that follow the perimeter to the house. In the interior of the building, modestly designed skirtings, architraves and ceiling cornices can be observed. Simple white picket fences at the front, separating the public sidewalk from the house. A small garden adorns the front, and another located at the back. The front garden has a small variety of flowering plants, while the back garden is used as a recreational space, with a covered pergola and a stone footpath leading to a water feature.
