VIDEO EDITOR / VIDEOGRAPHER INTERN Internship Description: Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent environmental causes of breast cancer by advocating for research and public policy change, and by community education. In 1994 when it was found that Cape Cod has a breast cancer incidence rate 21% higher than the rest of the state, MBCC lobbied the legislature for funding to found Silent Spring Institute (SSI), a scientific research organization that works to identify and break the links between environmental chemicals and women’s health, especially breast cancer. The unpaid MBCC Videographer/Intern will assist in the creation of filmed interviews with Silent Spring Institute researchers, MBCC Board Members and other individuals in the fields of environmental health and breast cancer prevention. The position would begin immediately and while length of stay is flexible, interns must commit to at least 15 hours per week. The videographer must be willing and able to travel to and from interviews and filming locations (travel is not compensated). Responsibilities may include: • Edit video feed to generate short and/or long clips • Upload segments onto the MBCC website, Facebook, Youtube and other social media outlets • Interns may also be asked to photograph or videotape during MBCC/SSI special events or presentations Qualifications: • Student Status: Undergraduate Junior, Senior or Graduate student • Minimum GPA: 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) • Interns must have experience with, and access to film editing software • Other critical skills include the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while working under deadlines, excellent communication skills, and the ability to conduct interviews with compassion, sensitivity, and tact. • A knowledge base in environmental health and/or breast cancer prevention issues is preferred but not mandatory.
