21ST CENTURY SKILLS - ENGLISH FOR TODAY’S WORLD In all of our courses, we aim to empower the learner and prepare them for today’s world. When students graduate from one of our six Oxford International schools, they are ready to use the English they have learned in their place of work or study. Classes are available in-person, online, or as a blended learning combination of the two. Our teachers are trained in methodology which builds upon the Common European Framework for Languages, and have also received training in the successful delivery of online classes. Students establish or build on a firm foundation across all the skills, using critical thinking and a combination of modern technology and triedand-tested pedagogical practices to improve their learning experience. It is extremely important to us that students not only learn new language structures, but also use them actively in their everyday life.

2

Training in critical thinking allows students to develop and share their opinions, with a focus on interaction and sharing information. Students are guided in their learning to develop their productive, receptive as well as mediation skills. •

Productive skills are an indication of how much or well a student can speak or write.

Receptive skills indicate the student’s ability to understand what they hear or read around them.

Finally, in mediation, the student is able to transfer information (written or spoken) from one source to a recipient, to receive and respond to information, and in return act as a facilitator or intermediary. In making this last step, students are truly prepared to use their English in a meaningful way in their lives.

YOUR LEARNING BEGINS BEFORE YOU ARRIVE… All students are enrolled onto our new Virtual Learning Campus, and receive a log in to begin

their journey with Oxford International. From here they can take a placement test, and access

information about their school. Their profile here will hold all of their academic progress during

their time at the school including test results, tutorials, self-study materials and exam preparation.

approach empowers the student to direct their own learning

and keeps them on track to reach their goals. Suggestions for practice materials and self-study options are offered.

Through our extensive social programme,

where students can mix with others in an informal environment and practice their language, or the

study club where further teacher input can assist with studies, there are plenty of opportunities on offer to continue learning!
