School Groups This unique and popular programme which is available for one or two weeks over the Easter period is designed to support students in their learning. It mixes classic English language lessons from our in-house syllabus with competitions drawing on presentation, creativity and leadership skills, and a range of on-site activities highlighting the internationality of campus life! 8-17 years

Laundry

A laundry room is located within each boarding house (may be located on the other side of the accommodation). At least one washer and dryer in each room. The laundry is free but washing powder is not supplied. Bed linen will be washed once a week by the school laundry. A bag of clean laundry is placed in every building in the morning. All students should bring towels and toiletries.

Meals

Breakfast and dinner will be with families. During the week, hot lunches will be provided at the school and at the weekend, families will provide a packed lunch. The first meal will be dinner on arrival and the last meal will be packed lunch on departure.

Laundry

If staying for longer than a week, laundry can be done on a weekly basis at host families and should be arranged with the host on arrival. All students should bring towels and toiletries.

Curfews

¼ Junior group students (under 14) must be home every evening unless specified by the school. Must not go out in the evenings.

¼ Junior group students (14-15) must be at home by 8pm each evening. they are not allowed out again after this time.

¼ Junior group students (16-17) must be home by 11pm.

¼ Individual junior students (under 16) must be home every evening unless specified by the school. Must not go out in the evenings.

¼ Individual junior students (16) must be home by 9pm unless authorised by their parents.

¼ Individual junior students (17) must be home by 11pm.

¼ Requests for alternative curfews can be made by the group prearrival by contacting the Admissions team. However, prior agreement from the homestay is required and parental consent is necessary.

Breakfast and dinner will be with families and a packed lunch will be provided. The first meal will be dinner on arrival and the last meal will be packed lunch on departure.

Curfews

Bradfield College is the only inhabitant of the village. All buildings are owned by the school making it a safe place to study. The laundry service at Heriot-Watt is available 24-hours every day of the week. It is self-service wash and dry. Bed linen will be washed once a week by the University laundry. All students should bring towels and toiletries.

There is a 24-hour security team on-site. No safes in the bedrooms. The Centre Manager has a safe in their office for Group Leaders to store money/passports securely. Sports: The Harcourt Hill Campus has its own sports centre on site with a sports hall, gym and swimming pool. Group leaders may use the gym facilities on a pay as you go basis.

Other: There are extensive playing fields for outdoor games and a Starbucks on site. There is also a

modern Students Union for multiple social activities including the campus disco.

Computer Access

Group leaders and students are provided with an individual password to access the Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is available across the whole campus, including accommodation. A computer room is available on site for students. The Activity Manager will advise you on opening times.

Breakfast: 07:00 - 08:45 - Continental with tea, coffee and fruit juice. Full English breakfast on Sunday with tea, coffee and fruit juice.

Lunch: 12:30 - 13:45 - Hot lunch with two choices/vegetarian option and salad bar/dessert.

Dinner: 18:00 - 20:00 - Hot dinner with two choices/vegetarian option and salad bar/dessert.

Facilities Sports: Sports include badminton, basketball and table tennis. The sports hall is used as part of the activity programme and must be supervised by an Activity Leader.

Other: A stunning picture gallery and historic chapel are housed within the world-famous Founder’s Building. Social spaces are available within the

Students Union such as Tommy’s Bar.

Computer Access

Students are issued with a Wi-Fi code on arrival. There is also a computer centre on site, which is available to Group Leaders all day, and to students as a designated evening activity.

Laundry

Located in The Hub main reception, and open until late each night. Washing powder can be purchased in the laundry room. Students must be accompanied by a member or staff. Bed linen will be washed once a week by the University. Refer to the Welfare Manager for exact details. All students should bring towels and toiletries.

Security

The university has a 24-hour on-site security team, who maintain a patrol. There is also campus-wide CCTV. All rooms have secure keycard entry. No safes in the bedrooms. The Centre Manager has a safe in their office, and this can be used by students to store money/passports securely. Damage deposits of £25 or €30 will be collected.

Health Care

Hospital: St. Peter’s Hospital, Guildford Road, Chertsey, KT16 0PJ Doctors’ Surgery: based within the University itself, as there is a medical centre within Founder’s Building. This is open 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday.

Bradfield College is the only inhabitant of the village. All buildings are owned by the school making it a safe place to study. If staying for longer than one week, laundry can be done on a weekly basis at host families and should be arranged with the host on arrival.

Curfews

Junior group students (under 14) must be home every evening unless specified by the school. Must not go out in the evenings.

¼ Individual junior students (16) must be home by 9pm unless authorised by their parents.

¼ Individual junior students (17) must be home by 11pm.

¼ Requests for alternative curfews can be made by the group pre-arrival by contacting the Admissions team However, prior agreement from the homestay is required and parental consent is necessary.
