Dear Leaders, Youth Camp holds a very special place in our hearts. It was TWENTY years ago at Oklahoma’s youth camp (Turner Falls) that I was saved and called into ministry as a teenager. Words can’t express the gratitude that I have to those who made camp happen that year. Pastors and volunteers, just like you, came and sacrificed so that my life could be changed. I want you to know we realize that many of you make huge sacrifices to be here. I promise you will not be disappointed, God has shown over the many years of youth camps that He is able to do more in an individual’s life at one week of camp when a student removes the distractions of life and surrenders to God. Part of the reason that’s true is because of your commitment to helping this young generation encounter the Lord. We hope you will enjoy and embrace the new changes that are being made as well as look forward to continuing to have fun with some of the great traditions that our youth camp has created over the years. We will continue to honor the past, as we celebrate the future of what God wants to do in this young generation. Have fun this week pursuing God and building relationships with your students. Our team is committed to doing everything we can to make these opportunities doable for you and your young people! We appreciate you and look forward to an amazing week together!

YOUR ARRIVAL AT CAMP

During the room talk time on night 1 (5-6pm) you will need to fill out your room list to make sure we have the correct names of the campers in your room. The deans will pick up the form during your evening room talk time.

ROOM COACH DAILY DUTIES

Wake Up – Make sure that all of the campers are out of bed in time to make it to the first activities of the day. No campers may be out of their room before 8:00 am. Campers are not required to attend breakfast, but all campers must be out of the room by 9:00 am. Room Assessment – Each day the deans will inspect each cabin room. For the preservations and quality of the camp facilities, cleaning your room is mandatory. They will be checking for: 1. Clean floor—pick up trash, sweep and mop the floor if it needs to be cleaned. 2. Beds made---each bed looks neat, no water bottles or trash left in the between mattress & wood frame. 3. Clothes put away---all clothes either hanging in the closet or put in personal bags, wet clothes should be hung outside on the clothes lines provided at the back of the cabins to dry. 8

4. Bathroom---Clean mirrors, shower clean and rinse out, toilets flushed & wiped down, sinks and countertops cleaned and wiped down, sweep floor, mop floor (no bleach or heavy cleaners), empty trash cans & replace trash bags. 5. Clean outside your room---please keep the commons area clean and free of trash. (Each room in your cabin will take a turn cleaning the lobby or commons area. (See opportunity schedule) Points will be given for a clean room and bathroom. These points will contribute to the CAMP CHAMP winner (Rules for Camp Champ games will be given in Coaches Meeting on Day 1 at 4pm in the Dining Center.) Serving Opportunities (see information sheet presented to you by Recreation Coordinator) Guideline Enforcement • Part of your duties as a staff member are to help us enforce the camp guidelines. It is your responsibility as a coach to oversee that the students in your room comply with the camp dress code. Each morning when the students leave the room and each evening when they head to the service please make sure that your students are modestly dressed. It is up to you as a coach to police your own students, deans will no longer be responsible to enforce the dress code. Please lead and guide your students in this area of modesty. If you need assistance with a student, you may need to find the youth pastor for that student or ask for help from your dean that has been assigned to your cabin. •

No food or drinks of any kind except bottled water are allowed in cabin rooms or the commons area.

Small Group Time – Each afternoon after lunch you and your students have a small group time inside your cabin room. This is the best way for us to make sure that every camper is known and included. It is a great time for you as the coach to encourage your campers to participate in the events of the day and that night’s service. It’s a great time to ask them questions and hear about their lives, and what they are hoping for each day. Whatever you feel is best as a coach, please have the freedom to do that. We will be providing a leader guide with questions to use if you feel you need them. Please do not use this as free time or nap time. We have purposefully built times into the schedule this year for specific purposes. Please do not allow your students to go outside of your cabin room during this time as they may be a disruption to other groups. FOF – Feet off Floor Each afternoon before dinner and your students have time to get showered and dressed for service. This is also a time that can be used for rest. We want our students to be as rested and alert for each night so they can give their best in service, as well as get the most out of it!! This is the absolute epicenter of the purpose for camp… for students to encounter God! The best way for them to do that is to be awake!!! Encourage your students to use this time wisely!

9

Bible Battle – Every morning from 10:30-11:15. The Rec. Coordinator will provide further instruction on this and provide you with a schedule and location. • Philippians 3 (Day 1) • Philippians 4 (Day 2) • Philippians 3&4 (Day 3- only for 5 day camps) Bible Reading – Bible Reading points will be awarded if every student in your room reads two chapters from the assigned book of the bible below. Points are awarded on a PASS/FAIL basis. Please be prepared to turn in your points (on an honor system) each day at the afternoon rec meeting. There are a lot of points here that can help a team win Camp Champ, so don’t overlook this, it could be the difference maker for your team. 2021 Bible Reading: John In case of emergency – It is the responsibility of each room coach to know where all their students are, at all times. If an emergency should arise during times that you are in your cabin room please contact your cabin dean. Each dean will have a walkie talkie so they can communicate with the camp nurse if needed. If a storm should pass through the camp with cloud to ground lightning or hail, all campers and staff will remain in the dorms until instructed otherwise. If it is simply a rain storm, we will continue with our schedule. If there were ever the threat of a tornado, staff and campers will follow severe weather protocol. Careful Practices and Conversation – Be careful to guide the subjects that are discussed by the campers in your room. There are many topics that are not appropriate for younger campers to hear discussed by older campers. It is your responsibility to make sure that conversational topics are appropriate. Campers need to wear their clothing in the rooms and bathrooms unless they are in the showers. It is not appropriate for campers to be strolling through the rooms unclothed. Be sure that no pranks are taking place in the cabin room. There are too many “harmless” jokes that can turn into lawsuits if we are not careful with what we allow to happen. Bed Time – While we do not have a set time for the campers to turn the lights out, it is up to your discretion as the coach when the students must go to bed unless changed by the Camp Director. However, if your room is up after other rooms have gone to bed, you must be quiet and not disturb the other rooms around you. Once the students have been instructed to go to bed, they must all remain in the cabin rooms. Any camper out of their cabin after bedtime will immediately be sent home from camp. Our armed security guards patrol the grounds after dark. Medication – All medication must be turned in to the camp nurse. The only exceptions are students with asthma and some diabetic cases, this is at the nurse’s discretion. Please be sure that they take their medicine before we have the camp closed down for the evenings. All medication must be in its original container! This will include all natural and homeopathic methods, including essential oils. 10
