Artists SCIENTISTS AND

JOURNALISTS

Biology faculty frequently offer field intensive courses in domestic and international destinations. Recent groups have traveled to Alaska, the Rio Grande Valley, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, the Gulf Coast, and Costa Rica. Mass communications students gain valuable, hands-on experience through The Campus Newspaper, MediaOCU.com, and Channel 22, which is Oklahoma City University’s award-winning student programming broadcast. Students in many disciplines have the opportunity to pursue undergraduate research and present their findings at regional and national meetings. Many students complete a semester-long internship where they spend time at local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and hospitals where they can apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life experiences. The School of Visual Arts has regular artist workshops, lectures, projects, and events, as well as exhibitions in the Hulsey Gallery, an active Art Club, rotating artwork in the Norick Art Center hallways, active artist residencies in the studios, film screenings, and more.

LEADERS in

BUSINESS

and

ENTREPRENEURS

All business students have access to the Bloomberg Terminals, which are resources for premier financial data used to monitor and analyze market data. Each student can become certified and benefit from integrating theory with real-world practice, while setting themselves apart in a competitive job market. Business students can join the Investment Club, where students are able to invest real money into the stock market. For the past 12 years, the Investment Club, which includes one undergraduate team and one graduate team, have been loaned $200,000 at the beginning of each fall semester by alumnus and business school namesake Herman Meinders. For the 2018-2019 academic year, the club was once again profitable and generated thousands of dollars in scholarship, for the 13th year in a row.

A valuable research opportunity available to business undergraduates is the opportunity to work in the Steven C. Agee Economic Research & Policy Institute, working with some of Oklahoma City’s largest corporations. Clients for the institute include the City of Oklahoma City, Devon Energy, the Cherokee Nation, the Chickasaw Nation, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, just to name a few.
