Oklahoma City OKC is the largest city in the State of Oklahoma with a metro population of more than 1.3 million. Oklahoma City University is located in the Uptown 23rd district – the home to one of the largest neighborhood revitalization projects in OKC. You’ll find great, locally owned restaurants and fun boutiques all within walking distance. Oklahoma City University is less than a five-minute walk from OKC’s Asian District, home to many Asian restaurants as well as one of the largest Asian grocery stores in the region. For those who speak Chinese, you can take a student-led video tour of Oklahoma City’s Asian District at okcu.edu/asiandistrict. Bricktown is Oklahoma City’s hottest entertainment and dining district and is located only four miles from OKCU. Bricktown offers a variety of activities, including dozens of restaurants and shopping options, a movie theater, and the Bricktown Ballpark. A short distance from the university you can find Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern, Korean, Colombian, and a variety of other ethnic restaurants. The Oklahoma River is an official U.S. Olympic & Paralympic training site for canoe/kayak and rowing.

Gettin g Around OKC Our 104-acre campus sits in the heart of Oklahoma City, just minutes away from the airport, vibrant districts, and endless shopping, dining, and entertainment options. So how should international students plan on getting around to see it all? Many students find that it is most convenient to purchase a used car upon arrival at school, but the good news is that even if a student doesn’t own a car, that won’t keep them from getting around OKC easily!

The Paseo Arts District, which is just a few blocks from campus, is home to 20 art galleries and more than 75 artists. The Civic Center Music Hall hosts 600 world-class shows each year. Oklahoma City is a great place for sports fans, as it is home to the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, the Oklahoma City Dodgers baseball team, and the Oklahoma City Energy FC soccer team. Within an hour’s drive of Oklahoma City you will find more than 50 lakes, dozens of miles of trails, and many golf courses. OKC has one of the lowest costs of living in the country – an average apartment costs less than $600 per month. okcu.e d u While many attractions and city hotspots (like the Asian or Plaza Districts) are within walking distance, students without cars can also get around using the Metro Transit bus system, as well as using riding services like Lyft or Uber. Oklahoma City University also offers rental car service through Enterprise to students. Bikes! More than 80 miles of dedicated trails. A new streetcar system is currently under construction!


A WINNING ATHLETIC Tradition OKCU has won a national championship in at least one sport every year for the last 24 years. 66 National championships and counting.

OKCU has more national championships than any other program in the NAIA. All OKCU students can attend home regular-season athletics events for free.

Life at Oklahoma City University 80+ student-led organizations, including the International Student Association! Optional chapel every Thursday at 1 p.m., which is open to all faiths and members of the OKCU community. Oklahoma City University offers numerous options for on-campus living, including traditional dormitory–style residences, apartments, and fraternity housing. Students can find their home away from home in one of several residences.

In recent years, 100% of Mass Communications graduates have had job placement within six months of graduation. 85% of science students are accepted into medical, dental, pharmacy, and biomedical research graduate schools.

Olga Andreeva, MBA, ’15

Sherin Ali is from India, Pune City, Maharashtra, and currently works as head of corporate social responsibility for WNS Global Services, an international business process management company.

Olga, who is from Izhevsk, Russia, is a business development director for Marsh Bellofram Europe, a company that manufactures industrial control and instrumentation equipment. Olga’s job is to develop new markets and establish distribution for them in Eastern Europe.

Yifen Yue, from Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province in China graduated in December of 2016 and is currently working as an accountant at Triad Energy, Inc. in Oklahoma City.

Originally from Qiryat Bialik, Israel, Or divides his musical activities between world-wide commercial venues and the concert stage. He has composed music for leading production companies and his work has been featured in global film, motion picture, radio, and television advertisements.

ELS Language Center ELS Language Center Oklahoma City is located conveniently on the OKCU campus and offers 12 levels. Conditional admission is available for most majors.
