Entry forms for artists are now available online at www.okeechobeemainstreet.org as well as the Main Street office at 55 S. Parrott Ave. There are four divisions: Juried and Non Juried Booth fine and artisan artists, Chalk Walk (street painting) artists, local adult Gallery artists, and student artists. The deadline for art submissions is Monday January 27th and January 28th for gallery artists. The deadline for booth artists has been extended till January 31. The Top of the Lake Art Fest is February 8-9, 2014. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the Art Show so Art Connoisseurs here’s your chance to become involved!
Okeechobee Main Street is looking for bands to participate in the Battle of the Bands which will be held on Saturday February 8th 2014 as part of the Top of the Lake Art Fest. There will be a cash prize and a lot of fun! Please pre register with Sharie at 863-357-6246 or info@okeechobeemainstreet.org. Please include the band name, # of musicians (must have at least 3 musicians, must have vocals and no track music), contact information and genre. The time of the event will coincide with the number of bands that are registered. You must have your registration in no later than Friday February 7th at 4 PM to the Main Street office. The Okeechobee Educational Foundation proudly presents its annual dessert theatre….Mandate for Murder. Florida Mystery Novelist Talks TRASH Jan. 30 at Okeechobee Public Library. When novelist Deborah Sharp was a journalist, she tagged along with a trash man to write a story about garbage collection. That experience came in handy more than two decades later, when she was plotting her fifth, Florida-set mystery, ‘’Mama Gets Trashed.’’ The former USA Today reporter will be guest of honor Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 pm at the Okeechobee Public Library. Trashthemed attire is optional at the event, which is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and Sharp will discuss ‘’Mama Gets Trashed’’ (Midnight Ink, 2013, $14.99) followed by a book signing.
