he recent cold front has once again cooled the water temperatures around the lake. Cold water has severely slowed the artificial bait bite… good news though, as the water warms again the bite will once again take off. The shiner bite was less impacted by the colder water, still yielding 30 or more bass per trip and big bass almost daily. Areas where fish are holding in great numbers are grassy Island, J&S area, Horse Island and the North Shore. Speck fishing continues to be very good for those anglers will-

ing to put in the time and effort to find the productive areas. The Kissimmee River is still giving up large numbers of specks, with anglers landing speck over two pounds. Minnows under small corks and jigs are both working. Night anglers are catching them in the Kissimmee River while daytime anglers are finding them scattered along the Kissimmee grass edges in the lake. A mix of hydrilla and or eel grass is a favorite cover for specks to reside in. Look for speck fishing to continue to be good around Pierce canal, Tin House and around the outside of King’s Bar.
