n spite of the cold weather this week the bass continue to bite. The pace of the bite may have slowed a little bit because of the cold water but it was a bite nevertheless. Once the front passed and the water warmed the bass responded by going on a feeding spree, eating shiners and artificial baits. The high winds from last week did create some stained water in quite a few areas of the lake. The artificial bite will get stronger as the water warms into the mid-seventies and higher. It appears that most of the bass have spawned, so they will
be actively feeding, to regain the energy they expended while spawning. Top water plugs, spinner baits, swim baits, flukes and senkos will all produce strikes. It may be helpful to switch baits until you can pinpoint the one bait the fish cannot leave alone. Shell cracker and blue gill have not made their presence known in the lake yet, but that can change overnight. Look for bedding areas catch large numbers of fish. Crickets, red worms and grass shrimp are the top baits for panfish.
