t’s good to be back in Okeechobee and find that the fishing is just as good as it was before we went on vacation. Bass fishermen are still catching good numbers on artificial bait, spinner bait, top water, soft plastics such as a fluke, or trick worm and of course a speed worm. The water has risen and there are fish that have moved a little further back into the marsh area. Big bass are still be caught by anglers flipping with creature baits in heavy cover areas or matted vegetation.
in the very thin water around spawning beds. Crickets and red worms both work well, but nothing beats a grass shrimp. While using grass shrimp an angler can expect to catch cat fish, shell cracker, blue gill, bass and of course mud fish and gar.
The outside vegetation lines are still holding bait, which in turn will keep bass and other predatory fish in the area. In early mornings shad and shiners can be seen running from fish as they get chased inside and outside of the Pan fish are still being caught around every grass lines. Schooling action is occurring all new and full moon phase. The full moon found around the lake. It’s all a matter of being in the large numbers of shell cracker and blue gill right place at the right time.
