peck fishermen are finding mixed results. Anglers fishing at night in the Kissimmee River are catching fish, but even the river is not predictable yet. Anglers that are fishing in the lake using jig poles and tiny jigs are catching good sized specks, but they find them one day and the next they are gone, or not biting. The recent cold weather has lowered the water temperatures in the main lake to 61 degrees. The cooler water should be good for the speck bite, both in the Kissimmee River and in the grass line or hydrilla edges in the lakes. Bass anglers have found that the artificial bait fishing has gotten much tougher. During the morning when the water is at its coldest point fish-

ing can be very difficult. Several anglers we talked with claimed that they had fished all morning and didn’t get a bite. A better game plan for artificial bait aficionados would be to get onto the lake later in the morning and fish through the afternoon when the water will be at its warmest point for the day. Shiner fishing took a hit for a day or so but bounced right back a day later. Many of the bass we are catching are roe laden and showing signs of spawning. Many of the larger bass can be found cruising as if looking for a place to spawn. As the moon phases change this week fishing should get very good prior to and after the full moon. Please get those big bass back in to the water as quickly as possible.
