f you are a fly fishing angler the past two weeks have been right up you alley. Small bass and blue gill are biting on small poppers and foam spiders. The edges of the cover in the lake or the canal banks of local canals are where it’s happening. Harney Pond, Indian Prairie, J&S and Buckhead Ridge canal are all giving up good numbers.

Bass fishing has been steady right up until our first cold front of the winter blew through. The bass in the lake were more affected by the pressure change than the bass in the Kissimmee River in deeper water. There are still some areas where you can find schooling fish around the lake. Lipless crankbaits, shallow running crankbaits, skinny dippers, flukes, Carolina Rigs will all work. The west side of the lake around Observation Shoal is holding bass. The event is in memory of Adam Bryant, an Okeechobee resident and volunteer firefighter that tragically lost his life after a spinal cord injury.
