Cast Your Vote for the County Fair Theme! 2011 Hospice of Okeechobee’s ‘Festival of Trees’ Hospice of Okeechobee’s annual Festival of Trees will be held Nov. 28 through Dec. 4. Delivery/set up of trees will be from Nov. 14 to Nov. 22. Hospice of Okeechobee is currently seeking donations of fully decorated Christmas trees and other Christmas items to display and sell through a silent auction process. This special event is to raise money for the benefit of patient care in the Hamrick Home, a residence and in-patient facility providing 24-hour care. ater is flowing into the lake from numerous openings that surround the lake. The lake level this morning was 12.85 feet. We are fast approaching what is perceived as a normal level for the lake.

The quick rise in the water level has caused the fish to enter a state of transition. The water level rise has allowed some of the fish to move into the grass lines further back into the marsh
Anglers that are able to find small innocuous holding areas are catching large numbers of bass. While others anglers are moving a great deal to find those particular spots.
Skinny dippers or big ez’s worked through the heavy cover areas will result in strike. Flukes and speed worms have been successful as well. Many anglers are flipping and pitching with creature baits around clumps of reeds and grass to catch their fish. There are still schooling fish opportunities to be found in moving water situations, where lipless crankbaits and Carolina rigs will provide action. It may take a few weeks for the fish to settle into new areas that are just opening up due to the high water, but as I said, some anglers (Larry) are catching the fire out of fish daily.
