ur weather pattern for this time of year is relatively predictable. Every week a cold front comes through and the wind will howl for a couple of days and then it calms down behind it. During this past couple of weeks we have had some high winds that can create tough fishing situations, but the fish are still biting. Top water baits, spinner baits, skinny dippers, 10-inch worms and creature baits are all drawing strikes. Bass are showing themselves in about every area of the lake.
will draw strikes. Of course the Kissimmee River is producing specks both during the day and at night for those anglers braving the dark. Indian Prairie, Harney Pond, J&S, Kissimmee River and Buckhead canal are all yielding specks to those willing to invest their time in hunting for a school of fish. The specks can be found along the hydrilla edges in the Kissimmee grass or tucked into the clumps of bulrush in the lake. Some of these areas are tough to fish but your persistence will pay off.
I know that you can launch at any ramp from Lock 7 and go west all the way to the Shoal and catch bass; that’s how wind- spread the fish are. Specks are being caught in the grass in and around the grass areas of the lake. Jigs or minnows dipped into the holes in the grass
