We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the graduating CLASS OF 2018. The scholarships you have earned will take you one step closer to realizing your dream of attending a community college, vocational school, technical school, or a state university!

LIKE US ON FACEBOOK!

The Okeechobee Educational Foundation, Inc.

The students in Okeechobee County come from varied backgrounds, income levels and need, but all deserve an opportunity to attend a post-secondary school. OEF is attempting to remedy this situation by raising funds, providing mini-grants to teachers and assisting donors by dispersing local scholarships.

OFFICERS: Mary Hurley, President Tabitha Trent, Vice President Joseph Stanley, Secretary Erin Moore, Treasurer Deborah Hooker, Parliamentarian

The Foundation believes services not only benefit the donors but also may increase the number of scholarships awarded. Foundation services are provided at no cost to donors and include:

BOARD MEMBERS: Dr. Christine Bishop Russ Brown Debbie Clements Dr. Patricia Cooper Ken Kenworthy Kelly Owens Phoebe Raulerson Jeff Sabin Noel Stephen Linda Syfrett Denise Whitehead Paulette Wise

The Board of Directors of the Okeechobee Educational Foundation, Inc. urges you to consider utilizing the Foundation when donating scholarships. Would you like more information on how you can be a donor and provide a scholarship or make a donation? Please call Erin Moore (863) 462-5000 Ext. 257.

!

Proof of donation from the Foundation under Section 501(c)(3) for your tax records. A letter and/or certificate for you to present to your scholarship recipient Scholarship Night or whenever you choose to award your scholarship. An official transmittal of scholarship funds directly to your recipient or the college of his or her choice. Management of your continuing scholarships at no cost. For instance, if your scholarship can be awarded to the same student in successive years depending on the student’s fulfillment of certain requirements, the Foundation can identify and verify such obligations have been met before releasing the funds. The legwork and paper work are done for you; and of course, you may request updates at any time. The selection of scholarship recipients will remain your choice and totally at your discretion. Any money you donate for scholarships through The Okeechobee Educational Foundation, Inc. will be awarded in your name or your organization’s name to the recipient of your scholarship. Your scholarship money awarded through the Foundation to students attending Indian River State College may be eligible for state match. Through the agreement between the Foundation and IRSC, the state awarded over $192,000 in match money to the Foundation in recent years. This money will go right back to students from Okeechobee attending IRSC! Did you know that over 100 Okeechobee donors (businesses and individuals), using the services of the Foundation, awarded over $255,000 in scholarships to over one hundred 2017 graduating OHS Seniors? Your generosity has given many students the opportunity to reach for a brighter future and obtain their dreams!

Mini-Grants OEF has awarded numerous mini-grants since 2000. During the 2016-17 school year the Foundation and generous partners awarded the following mini grants: • • • • • • • • • • •
