OKFB WLC attend Women in Ag and Small Business Conference

klahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee members attended the Oklahoma Statewide Women in Ag and Small Business Conference held Aug. 4-5 at Moore-Norman Technology Center’s South Penn campus in Moore.

OKFB WLC members spoke with several attendees at their booth located in the minimall showcasing Oklahoma businesses and made-in-Oklahoma products during the conference. OKFB WLC was a silver-level sponsor for the event.

The conference was packed with concurrent sessions on a variety of topics for four tracks, including agriculture, alternative enterprises, business and finance, and beginning farmers. Keynote speakers included Dr. Temple Grandin, Kim Bremmer of Ag Inspirations, and Michelle Miller, known on social media as The Farm Babe.

Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation to host Shotgun Shoot Fundraiser he Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation and the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation will host a Shotgun Shoot Fundraiser Friday, August 26, 2016, at Quail Ridge Sporting Clays in McLoud. Mark your calendars for an exciting morning of fun, food and friendly competition.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Fourperson team entry is $350 and singleperson entry is $100. Sponsorships are available. To register a team, complete the registration form located on the OKFB website and send to 2501 N. Stiles, Oklahoma City, OK 73105 by Friday, August 19. Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issues statement on water rights settlement klahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in response to the agreement reached by the state of Oklahoma and the tribes over water rights in Oklahoma.

“As evidenced by this major water rights agreement, strong partnerships are critical to ensuring the agriculture industry can continue to be a substantial and productive part of the Oklahoma economy in the decades ahead.

“Water is our state’s most important commodity and the lifeblood of Oklahoma

OKFB WLC meet to discuss Ag in the Classroom activities

Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee members meet to discuss summer activities for Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom Aug. 3 at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City. The OKFB WLC is a major supporter of the Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom program.

Supreme Court keeps Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation to share family farmers’ perspectives Right to Farm on n an effort to share more resources and information about Right to Farm, ballot he Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled to keep State Question 777, or Right to Farm, on the Nov. 8 ballot. The ruling was announced Aug. 8.

Opponents of the Right to Farm initiative first filed the lawsuit in March, more than eight months after the bill was added to the Nov. 8 ballot. The lawsuit was then dismissed by a unanimous ruling by a nine-member court in Oklahoma County. Critics then filed the appeal to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation will produce a series of videos featuring family farmers and ranchers across the state.

Kyle and Sheri Glazier are featured in one of the videos posted on the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation’s Facebook page. The Glaziers operate a grain and beef cattle farm in northwest Oklahoma. They also raise wheat, alfalfa, soybeans, canola and stocker cattle.

In the video, Sheri explains her perspective on the importance of agriculture.

“The amount of wheat we produced this year could total over 5.4 million loaves of whole wheat bread,” Sheri said. “When you think about it in that perspective, that who

we think are just small beings on this Earth are able to impact our food supply is really an amazing, amazing thing.”
