OEC Foundation Board Grants Over $23,000 to Local Organizations, Families

The OEC Foundation, Inc. board of directors met July 9 to review applications submitted by individuals and organizations for the Operation Round Up ® (ORU) program. A total of $23,902 was approved for disbursement to 10 organizations and families.

The largest grant of $10,000 was awarded to Transition House for its transitional living program — a program of supervised apartment living that empowers the development of essential life skills while providing support for those recovering from serious mental illness.

"The intended outcome is to provide clients with basic essentials so they can focus their energy on their recovery work, so they can transition to healthy, integrated community living," said Bonnie Peruttzi, Transition House executive director.

Other grant recipients included Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma ($6,000 for Food for Kids backpack program), Society of St. Vincent de Paul ($5,000 for its bedding program) and Adventist Community Services ($602 to equip its food pantry and meal service with an upright freezer).

Six individuals received grants providing dentures, glasses and dental work.

"We are always grateful for the generosity of the thousands of OEC members who make it possible to help their neighbors throughout the year," said Alan Davenport, OEC Foundation board president.

Applications submitted by Aug. 17 will be reviewed at the next meeting, scheduled for Sept. 3. Contact Education and Outreach Programs Director Tory Tedder-Loffland at ORU@ okcoop.org or 405-217-6726 for questions regarding the program or application process.
