Board of Trustees Approves Rate to Benefit EV Owners, Overnight Users

OEC's board of trustees recently added a new rate to OEC's growing catalog of rate options, this time for members who own an electric vehicle (EV).

"We are proud to offer a new residential rate that focuses on the time of day electricity is consumed and is most beneficial to those with electric vehicles," said CEO Patrick Grace.

However, it's also a great rate for those willing to divert energy consumption to evening and overnight hours.

While the price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) drops significantly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., the EV rate does not only benefit those who own EVs. Residential members who experience high consumption overnight could reap the benefits as well.

"Our goal is to create rate options that benefit a variety of user types," said Grace. "We now have rates for those focused on efficiency during the day and those who like a simplified, easy to understand rate. Creating a rate for higher overnight users was a natural next step." [3016421733]

Members able to shift high energy use (i.e. clothes dryer, HVAC, electric car charging, etc.) to the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. will experience the most savings.
