OEC Marketing Team Named Best in State
The Co-op News member magazine, Watts Watt employee magazine and other member communications pieces won multiple statewide awards in the 2018 Oklahoma Communications Contest, hosted by Oklahoma Living magazine. The team behind the work claimed the evening's top award.
Named Top Electric Communicator in the state among 28 electric cooperatives, the marketing and member relations (MMR) team consists of Manager of Marketing and Member Relations Autumn McMahon, Education and Outreach Coordinator Tory Tedder-Loffland, Editor and Creative Director Brianna Wall, Energy Efficiency Solutions Specialist Daniel Lofland, Key Accounts Manager Randy Harnsberger, OEC Fiber Creative Director Kayla Brandt and Key Accounts Specialist Tim Ferree.
In addition, OEC received Awards of Excellence (first place) for Best Newsletter Layout and Design for the Co-op News, Best Creative Communications Piece for the new member welcome brochure, Best Annual Report, Best Internal Newsletter and Best News Story for the May 2018 story titled Making Modern History: The Dawn of OEC Fiber.
A photo of OEC employee Aaron Criswell congratulating a Special Olympics athlete claimed the Award of Merit for Best Photo, and the Co-op News won the Award of Merit for Best Overall Content.
"While our team might be the one that gets the credit, it's truly a co-op-wide effort to ensure our members are taken care of and are kept well-informed," said McMahon.
OEC's communications materials have also been awarded at the national level. Most recently, the employee magazine, Watts Watt, won Best in Show in the publications division of the Cooperative Communicators Association annual contest, in addition to winning first place in its category. It's the third year in a row OEC's work has been recognized nationally.
"I continue to be impressed by what our team of seven is able to accomplish," said Wall. "Personally, I find tremendous value in communicating OEC's mission and cooperative difference to our thousands of members while providing them with relevant information so they can make informed decisions about their energy use."
CEO Patrick Grace echoed the sentiments.
"I couldn’t be more proud of the MMR team, and the board [of trustees] feels the same way," said Grace. "We always strive to provide the best service we can, and the MMR team delivers this exceptional member service by keeping the members informed and educated…and by being our members' trusted energy advisors."
