Cannabis Influencers

The age of influencers is still alive and doing well. Currently there is no formal definition or criteria of what makes an influencer, some descriptions of an influencer must have a certain number of followers on a social media platform.

Others simply view an influencer as an individual who has the power to influence other’s decisions, behaviors, opinions, etc. Before I go any further, let’s all agree that everyone has been or can be influenced in some way.

So, why not fill your daily scrolling, viewing, and listening with some awesome cannabis influencers from across all the social media platforms or spend time looking up the ones who don’t use social media.

INSTAGRAM INFLUENCERS

Steve DeAngelo

Named himself the “Father of the Legal Cannabis Industry.” His Instagram account now has 54K following. DeAngelo is founder of the Last Prisoner Project, an organization that works to redress the harms of cannabis criminalization through legal intervention, education, and criminal justice reform advocacy. The Prisoner Project Instagram page has more followers at 98.5K.

Syd

(@_shadesofsyd) Cannabis content creator, advocate, educator, and model. Her Instagram following gained traction with her “Different Strains 4 Different Pains,” where she gives product recommendations for various ailments, as well as product reviews.

Weed Humor

Follow this account for all your hilarious weed memes and videos. With a 5.5M following, you know they are funny.

She Smokes Joints

Promotes herself as a photographer, this account displays creative cannabis content with beautiful pictures and crafty rolled joints. She has earned a 247K following.

Murphy Murri

industry and extraction expert, she has gained a 17.4K following. You can definitely learn something from following her account about hash making and extractions.

Lonny the Street Lawyer

Lonny is a cannabis activist and lawyer, and much of his social media focuses on educating smokers on their rights.

Morgan Leigh English

(@thiscannabislife) – an advocate for ending the stigma against smoking cannabis has gained a 48.5K following. She also founded Stoned and Toned (@getstonedandtoned), where she shares cannabis fueled workouts.

Blunt Blowin' Mama

her Instagram and podcasts are geared towards normalizing moms who use cannabis. She is a journalist and former editor for big names like Huffington Post and ABC news.

Dr. Michele Ross

neuroscientist and mental health expert who battles with fibromyalgia and PTSD. She promotes the use of medical marijuana for her conditions as well as other conditions. She authored the book Vitamin Weed: Get Healthy, Not High.

VICE

on this YouTube channel you can find the show Bong Appetit, a competition where high end cuisine meets high end cannabis. Weediquette is another VICE documentary series that opens eyes into the science, culture, and economics of the legalization of cannabis.

The Grateful Grower

just a YouTube account with a following of 112K. This account covers all your growing informational needs from indoor to outdoor set ups, lights, heat stress, harvesting, etc. The comments are full of thankful people for the information and content from this YouTuber.

John Berfolo

became an advocate for medical cannabis for chronic pain after a serious accident, falling 28 feet onto concrete. His story draws people in, but his content around the medicinal benefits of cannabis, as well how to grow and process cannabis to use for medicinal purposes keeps people watching.

The Growers Network

with 170K subscribers, this channel is for the commercial growers. The channel promotes Canna Cribs, with episodes that feature tours of commercial grow operations.

That High Couple

a fun couple who uses Youtube and their following of 123K, to explore and talk about their passion for cannabis. They do dispensary visits, product reviews, tutorials, events, and more.

known for promoting cannabis culture all around, their content features how-to tutorials, weed hacks and weed humor. Their creative content has earned 628K followers and they are setting the bar for quality cannabis content extremely HIGH.

Ed Rosenthal

is a leading cannabis horticulture authority, author, educator, social activist, and marijuana legalization pioneer.

Emily Kyle

registered dietitian and cannabis advocate. She has an incredible following, which she has fostered a community of medical marijuana patients who share their testimonies. Her website is an excellent resource for patients who want to make their own medicine at home.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of influencers. There are many up-andcoming cannabis influencers gaining popularity. On a closing note, let’s give recognition to the OGs of cannabis influencing their work in the entertainment industry. Through music and comedy film/TV, their work has influenced many to use cannabis, supported cannabis use, and overall kept cannabis a relevant subject for decades. These are the top names that come to mind when thinking about the biggest cannabis influencers of all time: Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen, Wiz Khalifa, and the famous duo, Cheech and Chong.
