8 Strains To Be Thankful For This Thanksgiving

It’s time to get thankful, y’all! And, I’m not sure about you, but I’m thankful for marijuana. As the year has quietly moved into the holiday season, we all know the impending stress that comes with all the holiday fun. Halloween has passed, and as soon as we finish eating the turkey, it feels like there is no time to waste until Christmas. In the meantime, we can sit back, relax and focus on the top eight strains to try for this time of the year.

Peanut Butter Breath

A slightly smelly hybrid strain well-liked by peanut butter lovers. For most people, this strain can be something like a sedative. The nutty and earthy terpenes will treat you to a well-deserved relaxing state. If you need a good pre-turkey nap, this is a great choice for you. But remember not to sleep too heavily or Grandma might not wake you up to eat, “you just looked too peaceful.”

Apple Fritter

If you like apples, this is a great strain for you. It’s a good, true hybrid with typically no indica or sativa dominance. Due to its parent strains, it has a great balance with a good stony feeling with nice energy, so you don’t feel too tired. While it is an earthy-flavored strain, the benefits are its treatment of anxiety, stress, and depression.

Mimosa

A Sativa-dominant strain is best used in the early mornings, especially if you’re not a morning person. Although it may not fully wake you up like a cup of coffee, it can make you relaxed and aware without making you fall asleep. For medical users, it is recommended for the treatment of anxiety, nausea, stress, and mood swings. This is a very popular strain in both Colorado and Oklahoma, it is usually very easy to find and a nice strain for any time, not just the holidays.

Grape Pie

This strain is an Indica-dominant hybrid. With its super sugary berry-filled flavor that can be almost sour, it gives its users a tingly head-high effect that will spread through the entire body. Although this is indica leaning, it is known to give a nice head high with a lot of energy that as you wind down can lock you on the couch. To me, this sounds like a perfect strain for the “walk with your cousins” right before everyone sits down to eat.

Banana Kush

An Indica-leaning hybrid strain that is well known for the tropical flavors it has. It is said it tastes and smells like a bundle of fresh bananas. This is recommended to use at night before getting ready for bed. Its intended effect is to make you fall into a deep sleep to fully recharge for the next day. For some people, it can give a nice euphoric high that does zone them out into a mellow state. If used in a social setting, you should be able to stay awake due to its alleged talkative effects. If you’re already talkative, maybe don’t use it before your family gets together, you might talk an ear off.

Cherry Pie

While this strain can remind you of Thanksgiving by name, it is more than that. It is a solid hybrid strain that has notes of both sweet and sour cherries. Most people feel that it makes them have a euphoric high that gives them giggle fits. You can also rely on it to take effect after a few minutes and stick around for a long while. Although this strain can give you some serious dry mouth, it’s important to stay hydrated anyway.

Gelato

There are a lot of different strains that are crossbred from Gelato but there is only one “Larry Bird.” This is a typically well-balanced hybrid strain with fruity and woody flavors. In recent years, this strain has blown up in its popularity, and for good reason. It is a THC powerhouse that can be almost too much for new smokers. For medical users, the high THC content can be a great help as this strain can be used to treat fatigue, headaches, and chronic pain. The other Gelato strains like #3, #33, or #45 are also great choices if you can’t find the original.

Clementine

This citrusy strain is highly energetic and Sativa dominant. Most people love the citrusy taste and aroma, so much so that it has won awards like Best Sativa Concentrate back in 2015. This strain is perfect for use in the early mornings, wake and bakes with this and it should act like a cup of coffee. Some say this is a good strain for activating your “third eye” and stoking your creativity.

>>> These are only eight of the millions of strains that you can be thankful for this Thanksgiving. And we don’t have to only be thankful for them during this season. Marijuana is a gift that has kept on giving since even before the first state legalized it. We can be thankful for all the good it has done and the wonderful community that surrounds it. We can also think of all the people with medical issues that can comfortably celebrate Thanksgiving with the medical help of marijuana. A real-life blessing happens every day and sometimes it's nice to think about how great things are instead of how bad things can get. When the world gets rough, and it can be very rough, try to sit back and be thankful even when it isn’t Thanksgiving.

So, when we all wind down and take some turkey power naps, you can rely on the strains we are thankful for. Before the Christmas season takes hold, relax as much as you can, but be sure to stay thankful. When we forget what we are thankful for, we risk ruining what we have built together and what we have triumphed in the past. Happy Thanksgiving! Be sure to remind the people you love that you are thankful for them and, if nobody has told you yet, I’m thankful for you. thechronicmagazine.com NOVEMBER 2022 12
