Green Friday THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY'S ANSWER TO BLACK FRIDAY by Chynna Jasmine Pearson
It’s November! And you know what that means.... Black Friday sales!! (What, you thought I was going to say Thanksgiving?) Black Friday is one of the most anticipated days for shopping all year. Ever since the first Black Friday, in September of 1849, the hype around this holiday has been real. The day has evolved since then, but for decades people have been tackling each other for 80% off of NFL-themed crockpots and Hamilton Beach microwaves. That is no exaggeration, in 2008 there was a literal gun fight in a Toys-R-Us due to the Black Friday sale. If you’re going to participate, please stay safe and be aware of your surroundings. Fortunately, “Green Friday,” doesn’t have as much traffic, and you’ll likely just have to wait in a long line. As all the typical non-cannabis shops celebrate Black Friday, the cannabis industry has made their own sales focused holiday called Green Friday, or Green Wednesday (which seems to be the more popular choice), depending on where you are. The reason behind this holiday getting called Green Wednesday might be due to cannabis customers wanting to stock up on their favorites before Thanksgiving rather than after, but there is no concrete explanation for this. Personally, I think it’s not the catchiest name, but having the sale before the #1 eating holiday in America is a smart move. Green Fridays may be newer than Black Friday, but for people who love cannabis... it’s just as exciting... maybe even more exciting. It’s basically one of the most popular cannabis holidays, behind 420 (April 20th) and National Dab Day (July 10th). Green Wednesday doesn’t have a long history, but Leafly reported that the holiday began in 2016, coined by California delivery service Eaze. Every year more and more people have hopped on the Green Wednesday train. Reports from Headset came in to show that nationwide, cannabis orders go up almost 50% on Green Wednesday. If this trend continues this way within the next ten years, every legalized state will have some sort of Green Wednesday deal. Another reason for the holiday is, as reported by Weedmaps, “the fact that retailers are ofn closed on Thanksgiving, some keeping their doors shut through the weekend. 7

thechronicmagazine.com
To avoid running out over the potentially long weekend, customers tend to purchase more than usual to ensure they have enough for their festivities and gatherings. Similarly, medical patients may need to stock up on their medicine to avoid the risk of running out and suffering complications.” So, although a company has been credited with the invention of Green Friday, they may have simply taken advantage of a trend they noticed in years before. A very smart business decision on their part! But has the holiday actually brought in that much extra money for the cannabis industry? According to VeriLife, “In 2020, dispensaries saw an 80% increase in sales the day before Thanksgiving, leading to a record $238 million during the 2020 Thanksgiving weekend. Sales also saw increases in 2018 and 2019. These increases come with good reason, dispensaries often run deals up to 50% off on certain items.” This is the same for 2022. In fact, one survey reports that the cannabis loving participants say, “they would spend a minimum of $100 on cannabis during the holidays, 65% of them would also choose to replace alcohol with cannabis for Thanksgiving, and 54% planned to consume cannabis with their friends.” This means, business wise, it’s a great concept to add to your holiday dispensary sale repertoire. Some forecasts for Green Wednesday that were done in the beginning of 2023, might be correct but we will have to wait and see. One of the top forecasts stated that the top seller for Green Wednesday would be vapes, both disposable and otherwise, due to the heightened popularity in recent years. Vapes, in this sense, can also mean dry herb vaporizers and starter kits. DynaVap has also told their readers that, “ another trend to be aware of is the release of new cultivars and products. Cannabis retailers who are Green Wednesday savvy are increasingly harnessing the momentum of the day to generate buzz about new items. As Green Wednesday signals the start of the holiday season and gift-giving is on people’s radars, you’ll likely see an influx of new, innovative cannabis products hitting shelves.” Although cannabis has been legalized in a lot of states for years now, there are still many newcomers to the cannabis industry that want to get their foot in the door. This trend will likely be in motion until the whole of the United States have legalized cannabis, medically or recreationally. Even then, it will be years after that that the cannabis industry will ultimately plateau. The final prediction for this upcoming Green Wednesday sales is an uptick in infused beverages and edibles. Since the pandemic had previously impeded many of our holidays, people are more likely to get edibles to share with the family. Even if they aren’t sharing, taking edibles will lessen the time we spend rolling up and leaving to smoke outside. People are more grateful for the time we have had with our loved ones and want to soak up every minute. If Green Wednesday sounds like something you’d like to take advantage of, there are a few things you might want to do beforehand to get the best bang for your buck. Check up on your favorite dispensaries, ‘will they be open on Thanksgiving?’ It’s very likely that they will be closed, so the employees can spend time with their families. Ask them if they have any plans for Green Wednesday deals, or any holiday deals. Your dispensaries might not be doing Green Wednesday or Friday deals, but they could choose to do Black Friday instead. Keep an eye out, and sign up for their text notifications too (if they have them)! Usually their text notifications will keep you updated on all their upcoming deals, and maybe even cool new products! However you plan on spending your Thanksgiving holiday, be sure to enjoy yourself. Spend some time with the family and relax all you can before you have to go back to work. Remember to be thankful this season, not just for cannabis, but for all the blessings in your life. Happy Thanksgiving! And happy “Green Friday” too!

Fraudulent activity exposed in Arkansas cannabis licensing through two lawsuits
A
rkansas - Startling allegations have emerged, as prominent individuals in Arkansas have come forward to accuse their attorney acquaintances of exploiting them as nominal owners of medical marijuana dispensaries. This controversial practice has resulted in hefty tax burdens being pushed onto these unwitting figureheads, raising serious doubts about the integrity of the state's cannabis licensing system. Two lawsuits, recently filed in St. Francis and Pope counties, highlight the involvement of well-known figures from Arkansas' legal and business community. One attorney from the esteemed Little Rock firm Steel Wright Gray has even taken the unprecedented step of suing his own firm and partners for their alleged role in this scheme. These developments have shed renewed light on the vulnerabilities within Arkansas' cannabis licensing process, unveiling a potential breach of trust and bringing into question the fairness of the entire system.

Known as Jayden's Law, this legislation seeks to ensure that all students can access the medication they require without compromising their academic time. According to state Rep. Jimmie Wilson Jr., one of the bill's sponsors, the goal is simple - to provide medical marijuana pediatric patients with the same access to their medication as other students have with their prescribed drugs. Whether it's in the nurse's office or the administration office, students will be able to retrieve their medication and seamlessly return to class. Students currently have to leave school premises to take their prescribed dosage of medical cannabis. This can cause disruptions to their education and daily routine, especially for those with conditions like autism, chronic pain, or epilepsy.

Recipes for a Cannabis-Infused Feast As we approach another Thanksgiving season, there's a new trend that's capturing the attention of holiday revelers across the nation—Danksgiving feasts. With the increasing legalization and social acceptance of cannabis, more people are incorporating this versatile plant into their holiday traditions. The legalization of cannabis for medical and recreational use in various states has led to a seismic shift in how the plant is perceived and consumed. Gone are the days when cannabis was solely associated with stoner culture; today, it's making its way into gourmet kitchens and high-end culinary experiences. This Danksgiving, families are not just passing around the turkey and stuffing; they're also sharing cannabis-infused delicacies. Let's take a closer look into why cannabis is becoming the guest of honor at many Thanksgiving tables this year.
Why Cannabis? The question on many minds this holiday season is, "Why cannabis?" As more people opt for Danksgiving feasts, it's worth exploring the various reasons behind this growing trend. From enhancing culinary experiences to easing social interactions and providing medical benefits, cannabis is proving to be more than just a passing fad. Cannabis can elevate the culinary experience in ways that are both subtle and profound. The plant's various terpenes and flavonoids can interact with food flavors to create a more complex and enjoyable dining experience. Imagine the earthy undertones of a cannabis-infused gravy complementing your turkey or the citrusy notes of a cannabis-infused cranberry sauce. These combinations can turn a traditional meal into a gourmet adventure, making the holiday even more memorable. Let’s examine why cannabis is becoming a staple at Thanksgiving tables.
The Social Lubricant Let's face it—Thanksgiving can be a stressful time, filled with family dynamics that range from heartwarming to downright awkward. Cannabis serves as a social lubricant, much like a good bottle of wine or a round of cocktails. Its calming effects can help ease social tensions, making conversations flow more naturally and perhaps even adding a touch of humor and lightness to the gathering. For those who find family reunions a bit nerve-wracking, a little cannabis can go a long way in making sure everyone has a happy Danksgiving. Medical Benefits For many people, cannabis is not just about recreation; it's a medical necessity. Individuals who use cannabis for pain management, anxiety relief, or other medical reasons often find holidays to be a challenging time. The physical and emotional stresses of a large gathering can exacerbate symptoms, making it difficult to fully participate in the festivities. Cannabisinfused foods offer a discreet and effective way for these individuals to manage their symptoms while still partaking in the holiday feast. This inclusivity can make a world of difference for those who might otherwise feel sidelined during family events. Mindfulness and Gratitude Cannabis has long been associated with a heightened sense of mindfulness, which can be particularly meaningful during a holiday centered around gratitude. The plant's effects may encourage individuals to slow down, savor each bite, and truly appreciate the time spent with loved ones. In a world that often feels rushed and stressful, this moment of pause can be a priceless gift. So, if you're considering cannabis for its culinary, social, medical, or mindful benefits, it's clear that this versatile plant has a lot to offer this Danksgiving. As always, remember to consume responsibly and be aware of your guests' comfort levels and legal restrictions. thechronicmagazine.com NOVEMBER 2023

Safety First As the trend of Danksgiving celebrations gains momentum, the importance of safety cannot be overstated. While cannabis offers a range of benefits, from enhancing flavors to easing social tensions, it also comes with its own set of precautions that should be diligently followed. Here's an expanded look at how to ensure a safe and enjoyable cannabis-infused holiday experience.
Dosage Awareness One of the most critical aspects of safely consuming cannabis-infused foods is understanding and controlling the dosage. Cannabis edibles can be potent, and their effects are often delayed, taking anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully kick in. This can lead to the common mistake of consuming too much, too quickly. If you're new to cannabis or are serving guests who are, it's advisable to start with a low dose and wait for the effects to manifest before consuming more. Always clearly indicate the estimated dosage per serving for any cannabisinfused dishes you serve.
Clear Labeling In a setting where multiple dishes are being served, it's easy for your Danksgiving treats to get mixed up with regular food. To prevent accidental consumption, make sure to clearly label all cannabis-infused dishes. Use distinct markers, tags, or even separate serving areas to differentiate them from non-infused items. This is especially important if children or pets are present, or if you have guests who wish to abstain from cannabis.
Legal Age and Consent Cannabis consumption is subject to age restrictions, much like alcohol. Ensure that all guests partaking in cannabis-infused foods are of legal age according to your jurisdiction. It's also crucial to obtain explicit consent from your guests before serving them cannabis-infused items. Not everyone may be comfortable with or able to consume cannabis, due to personal preferences, medical conditions, or other medications they may be taking.
Safe Storage If you're preparing Danksgiving dishes in advance, make sure to store them in a safe, secure location that's clearly marked to prevent accidental consumption. Child-proof containers are a good option for added safety. This is particularly important for items that are naturally appealing to children or pets, like brownies or cookies.

Plan for Transportation If you have guests who are partaking in Danksgiving festivities, make sure there's a plan for them to get home safely. Encourage the use of designated drivers, rideshare services, or arrange for accommodations if needed. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal and can be dangerous. Safe holidays are the best holidays to remember. By taking these safety precautions seriously, you can help ensure that you have a happy Danksgiving, one that is not only enjoyable but also responsible and respectful of all attendees. As you plan your elevated holiday feast, keep these guidelines in mind to create a safe and memorable experience for everyone.
A New Tradition? The Future of Danksgiving As Danksgiving celebrations become increasingly popular, many are wondering whether this is a fleeting trend or the beginning of a new American tradition. While it's difficult to predict the future with certainty, several indicators suggest that cannabis may have a lasting place at the Thanksgiving table. Here's a closer look at why this modern twist on a classic holiday could be here to stay.
Culinary Innovation The world of cannabis cuisine has evolved far beyond brownies and cookies. Today, chefs and home cooks alike are experimenting with sophisticated recipes that incorporate cannabis in various forms, from oils and tinctures to butters and even THC powders. This culinary innovation makes it easier to integrate cannabis into a wide range of traditional Thanksgiving dishes, from appetizers to desserts, thereby increasing its appeal and versatility.
Generational Shifts As younger generations come of age in a world where cannabis is increasingly accepted and legalized, their attitudes towards its use in social settings, including holidays, are likely to be more open. This generational shift could contribute to the normalization of Danksgiving celebrations, making it a tradition that gains traction over time.
Health and Wellness Trends The growing focus on health and wellness also plays a role in the rising popularity of cannabis-infused foods. Many people view cannabis as a more natural alternative to alcohol or pharmaceuticals, especially for managing stress, pain, and other health issues. As wellness-oriented lifestyles continue to gain popularity, the appeal of a cannabis-infused holiday— where indulgence can be balanced with perceived health benefits—may grow.
Community and Social Aspects Finally, the communal nature of Thanksgiving makes it a fitting occasion for shared cannabis experiences. Just as families and friends gather to share a meal, the act of sharing a cannabis-infused dish can serve as another form of bonding. As people seek new ways to connect and make memories, Danksgiving offers a unique opportunity to do just that. While it's too early to definitively say whether Danksgiving will become a new American tradition, the signs are promising. As long as it's approached responsibly and legally, this modern take on a beloved holiday has the potential to become a lasting custom. As you ponder your holiday plans, consider that Danksgiving might just be the new tradition you didn't know you needed. thechronicmagazine.com

Oklahoma's marijuana market is going down the drain while people struggle to pay their bills. Stricter enforcement and an overwhelming amount of weed could spell trouble for loads of businesses. Oklahoma's weed market, once the wildest in the world with a whopping 14,000 licensed medical marijuana businesses, is shrinking fast. The voters weren't all that keen on legalizing it for recreational use. State regulators and law enforcement are cracking down, leading some businesses to close shop. Others are realizing that Oklahoma's weed production is sky-high, about 64 times more than what's needed for medical patients. It's becoming impossible to turn a profit. To make matters worse, the potential customer base is shrinking. Enrollment in the medical program has dropped from over 385,000 to just under 350,000..
by Buz Deliere
"It's just too much. It's causing a ton of problems," said Chip Baker, a seasoned weed entrepreneur who came to Oklahoma from Colorado in 2019 to capitalize on the medical market's launch. "Everyone's struggling." Oklahoma's journey into marijuana legalization has turned into a cautionary tale over the last five years. The state's conservative stance on the issue has compounded the challenges faced by emerging markets nationwide. Unfortunately, Oklahoma's booming marijuana industry has been marred by numerous illegal cultivation raids, widespread product diversion into the black market, and alarming incidents like human trafficking and even a shocking quadruple murder at a cannabis farm. It's clear that Oklahoma's experience highlights the pitfalls of marijuana legalization, making it a story that demands attention. thechronicmagazine.com

Thanksgiving Detox: How CBD Can Help You Recover After the Feast by Therin Miller
CBD and Digestion Overeating during Thanksgiving is a common occurrence, leading to digestive discomfort. CBD has shown promise in supporting gut health in several ways: Reducing Intestinal Permeability: A 2019 study found that CBD reduced intestinal permeability in humans when used alongside Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), a chemical known to reduce pain. Managing IBS Symptoms: Research suggests that CBD can help manage symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), such as pain and inflammation. CBD's cortisol-lowering benefits can help prevent leaky gut or intestinal permeability. Anti-inflammatory Properties:
Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude, family gatherings, and indulgent feasts. While the holiday brings joy and delicious food, it can also leave us feeling sluggish and in need of some post-feast recovery. For those in the cannabis community, CBD (cannabidiol) offers a natural solution to help with relaxation, digestion, and sleep after the Thanksgiving dinner. Let's explore the potential benefits of adding CBD to your Thanksgiving recovery routine. 23
NOVEMBER 2023

CBD has been shown to inhibit inflammation-induced hypermotility, which, combined with its antiinflammatory action, supports a healthy digestive system. The Relaxing Effects of CBD The holiday season, while joyous, often comes with its own set of challenges. From the hustle of preparations to navigating complex family dynamics, and the innate desire to create the perfect feast, stress can easily creep in. Amidst this whirlwind, CBD emerges as a beacon of calm. The anticipation of the holidays can evoke a myriad of emotions. While many look forward to the festivities, the responsibilities that come with it— shopping, cooking, hosting, and ensuring everyone's happiness—can be overwhelming. Add to this the potential for family disagreements or the pressure of upholding traditions, and it's clear why many find this period stressful.
CBD's Calming Mechanism: CBD, or cannabidiol, interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, a complex network that plays a role in regulating various physiological processes, including mood. By influencing the endocannabinoid receptors, CBD can help modulate the release of neurotransmitters, promoting a sense of calm and balance. This makes it particularly useful in counteracting feelings of anxiety and stress. Beyond Mental Relaxation: While CBD's anti-anxiety effects are widely recognized, its benefits extend beyond mental relaxation. CBD has been shown to enhance the immune system, a crucial aspect during the colder months when the body is more susceptible to illnesses. Its antiinflammatory properties can help alleviate physical discomforts, which might arise from the excesses of holiday feasting. Furthermore, by supporting healthy digestion, CBD ensures that the body efficiently processes food, contributing to an overall sense of well-being. Considering its multifaceted benefits, incorporating CBD into your holiday routine can be a game-changer. Whether taken as an oil, capsule, or even infused in holiday treats, CBD can offer a holistic approach to relaxation, ensuring both mental and physical well-being.
CBD for Restful Sleep The euphoria of Thanksgiving festivities, filled with laughter, conversations, and perhaps a little overindulgence, often culminates in the desire for a deep, restorative sleep. As the night draws to a close and the adrenaline subsides, the body craves rest. This is where CBD, with its myriad of benefits, steps in as a potential sleep aid. The Science Behind Sleep and CBD: Sleep is a complex physiological process, influenced by various factors, including stress, anxiety, and physical discomfort. The body's endocannabinoid system, which CBD interacts with, plays a role in regulating sleep patterns. CBD's interaction with the endocannabinoid receptors can influence the sleep-wake cycle, promoting longer periods of uninterrupted sleep. Combatting Anxiety-Induced Insomnia: One of the primary reasons people struggle with sleep is anxiety. The mind, caught in a loop of worries and overthinking, finds it challenging to relax, preventing the onset of sleep. CBD's anxiolytic properties can help calm the mind, reducing the time it takes to fall asleep and increasing the duration of deep sleep. Beyond mental relaxation, CBD's anti-inflammatory properties can be beneficial for those experiencing physical discomfort, such as muscle aches from a day of cooking or playing with younger family members. By alleviating these discomforts, CBD can further enhance the quality of sleep. There are various ways to incorporate CBD into your nighttime routine. From CBD-infused teas that can be sipped before bed to tinctures and capsules, finding the right method and dosage is crucial. It's also essential to note that while many find relief with CBD, individual experiences may vary. Why Use CBD After Thanksgiving Dinner? Thanksgiving is more than just a meal; it's an experience. Adding CBD to your post-feast routine can enhance this experience by promoting relaxation, aiding digestion, and ensuring a good night's sleep. As people look for healthier ways to enjoy their holidays and recover afterward, CBD offers a natural and effective solution. As we approach the holiday season, consider the benefits of incorporating CBD into your Thanksgiving traditions. Whether you're a seasoned cannabis user or new to the world of CBD, its potential benefits in relaxation, digestion, and sleep can make your Thanksgiving experience even more enjoyable. Remember, always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement or treatment. thechronicmagazine.com

THE ROLE OF AI IN CANNABIS SALES
In the burgeoning world of cannabis, business owners are constantly seeking innovative strategies to stand out and boost sales. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a game-changer in this arena, offering a plethora of tools that can propel cannabis sales to new heights. This article delves into how dispensaries, growers, and processors can harness AI to enhance their sales strategies, drawing from credible sources and industry insights.
Dispensaries: Personalizing Customer Experiences For dispensaries, AI can revolutionize customer interaction by providing personalized experiences. AI-powered CRM systems can analyze purchase histories and customer preferences to recommend products, much like Amazon's recommendation engine. This not only increases the likelihood of sales but also enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty. Furthermore, chatbots can handle basic inquiries, freeing up staff to focus on more complex customer service tasks, thereby improving efficiency and reducing wait times. Growers: Predictive Analytics for Crop Optimization Cannabis growers can utilize AI for predictive analytics, enabling them to make informed decisions about planting, harvesting, and selling. AI algorithms can analyze data from various sources, including weather patterns, market prices, and consumer trends, to predict the best times to plant and harvest for maximum yield and profit. This data-driven approach ensures that growers can supply dispensaries with the right products at the right time, optimizing the supply chain and increasing sales opportunities. Processors: Streamlining Production and Distribution AI can significantly streamline the production and distribution processes for cannabis processors. Machine learning algorithms can predict the most popular strains and products, allowing processors to adjust their production schedules accordingly. Additionally, AI can optimize distribution routes, ensuring that products reach dispensaries efficiently and cost-effectively. By reducing waste and improving delivery times, processors can offer competitive pricing and better service to their dispensary clients, ultimately driving up sales. 27

CANNABINOIDS TERPENES Borneol Welcome to the World of Cannabinoids and Terpenes, where we explore the intricate universe of aromatic compounds found in plants, specifically in cannabis. In this column, we dive deep into the realm of cannabinoids, terpenes, and cultivars, examining their individual effects and the potential healing abilities they offer. With hundreds of different terpenes and cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant, each possessing unique benefits, their combined power creates a potent synergy. Terpenes and cannabinoids stand as the primary factors determining a cannabis plant's potential, impacting not only its taste and aroma but also its medicinal properties. When these compounds merge in what was once referred to as the entourage effect, finding the right cultivar could potentially transform lives. It is my hope that this column assists you in this significant journey. While Borneol might not be the most common or primary terpene, it is a remarkable compound deserving of attention. Borneol is not readily found in cannabis but proves invaluable, particularly in the creation of salves and topicals, in my opinion. However, its scarcity in concentrated doses presents a challenge due to its limited availability. Therefore, cultivating high-content strains is recommended, as adding terpenes post-growth is discouraged. Borneol boasts strong citrus notes with a hint of metallic flavor, accompanied by spicy, earthy undertones and a refreshing minty sensation, akin to herbs like mint, rosemary, mugwort, and camphor. This cooling effect enhances lung function, eases breathing, and can even alleviate bronchial symptoms. Beyond its smell, Borneol possesses a calming and sedative effect, making it beneficial in combating fatigue, stress, and aiding in recovery from chronic illnesses.

Scientific studies, such as those reported by the Scientific World Journal, highlight Borneol's anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. This terpene also amplifies the permeability of the blood-brain barrier, enabling efficient binding with specialized receptors in the brain and central nervous system. Its historical significance in traditional Chinese medicine, dating back to the early 1600s, is well-documented, where it was used in practices like moxibustion to reduce inflammation, numb pain, and alleviate anxiety. Given its prevalence in high-THC plants with moderate to high psychedelic effects, Borneol is potent, and a little goes a long way. Ingesting too much can be dangerous, so it's advisable to avoid adding it post-growth. Let the plant work its natural magic. Borneol's potential properties and effects include anti-coagulative, neuroprotectant, digestive aid, circulation enhancer, relaxation inducer, stress and anxiety reducer, natural insect repellent, inhibitor of Herpes Simplex Virus type 1, pain reliever, and antiinflammatory agent
Cannabis cultivars rich in Borneol include: Amnesia Haze: Amnesia Haze is a popular sativa-dominant known for its euphoric effects. It has been reported to have higher levels of Borneol. K-13 Haze: K-13 Haze is a sativa-dominant hybrid. While its exact terpene profile can vary, some phenotypes of this strain are said to contain notable amounts of Borneol. OG Kush: OG Kush is a well-known indica-dominant hybrid. It has a complex terpene profile, and some phenotypes have been reported to contain Borneol. Silver Haze: Silver Haze is a sativa-dominant known for its energizing effects. Some users have reported higher Borneol levels in certain batches. Golden Haze: Golden Haze is another that some users claim has a higher Borneol content. Like other strains, it's important to verify this information with a reliable source.

EIGHT
THANKSGIVING THEMED STRAINS by Chynna Jasmine Pearson
In the words of the iconic Linda Belcher, “It’s Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving for everybody! Except for Europeans!” It’s turkey time, and we all know a little bit of cannabis won’t hurt when it comes to chowing down on your favorite Thanksgiving sides. What’s your favorite? I personally can’t wait for some sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing, and homemade rolls. If you want to smoke some themed strains (or just strains known for making the munchies hit hard) for Thanksgiving, this is the right place to look. Let’s dive on into some Thanksgiving cannabis strains. Maybe when you take the “walk” with all your cousin’s you can bring some of these... make Thanksgiving this year more of a “Danksgiving.”

S.A.G.E. This strain is also known as Sativa Afghani Genetic Equilibrium as it is the perfect mix of Sativa and Indica. It is a very versatile strain, it plays off of your energy level. If you use it while tired, you might feel more awake for about an hour, but it will inevitably put you on the couch. But if you’re feeling fresh, you can get what you need to get done without feeling too sleepy.
Hybrid THC: 17% CBG: 1%
Poontang Pie Pie is a Thanksgiving staple, can’t have a proper Thanksgiving without it. This Indica dominant hybrid is a combination of Tropicana, Grape Pie, and Papaya. This pie might not be as sweet as pumpkin but it does have sweet citrus notes underneath the heavy pine scent. Those who love themselves some Poontang say it gives them a nice head high.
Gelato
Hybrid THC: 17% CBG: 1%
Cranberry Kush Just like pie, cranberries are just perfect for Thanksgiving. This Indica is beautiful and perfect for a pre-dinner smoke session. It’s a very fruity strain that is known to be very sticky, perfect for rolling a joint. Those who smoke this strain say that it's smooth and potent, so take your time. Once you’ve smoked, you’ll be left feeling happy, uplifted, focused, and a little sleepy.
Indica Dominant Hybrid THC: 19% CBG: 1%
Peaches & Cream
If I’m being real, this strain is probably the most common strain on this list. Most of us have seen this strain at our local dispensary. It’s one of the most well balanced hybrids you can find. Its sweet taste is perfect to pair with Thanksgiving desserts. Gelato will leave its users with mental euphoria and heightened relaxation. It’s also known to take effect quicker than most strains, so if you’re going on a “walk” maybe you don’t have to go too far this year.
This hybrid strain is derived from a Skunk phenotype but it comes with a sweet flavor that fits its name. While peaches and cream might not be very Thanksgiving-y, it’s still a sweet pairing for before or after the 2pm dinner. Those who smoke this strain say that it gives a nice heady high that encourages euphoria and creativity. That makes Peaches and Cream the perfect choice for unwinding after helping your mom, your grandma, and your sister cook all day.

Key Lime Pie Another pie strain, so yummy! If you look for this strain it is sometimes called “Key Lime Cookies” or “Key Lime GSC”, regardless it’s a great choice for anyone who wants to add to the tryptophan coma we’ll all be going into. This strain gives its users a relaxing body high that is often used to help relieve chronic pain. Probably the strongest Indica on this list, this might be good for after all the festivities. Its flavors are similar to its name, with some added mint and spice.
Hybrid THC: 20% CBG: 1%
The final pie strain, and it’s a classic. This strain is known to make your eyes as red as cherries and your heart as happy as pie! Cherry Pie is a Indica dominant hybrid that is known for giving the users a relaxed feeling with some mellow happiness on the side. This choice might be perfect for Thanksgiving as users report that the munchies are strong with this one. Maybe you will have room for that third slice of pie or even a Thanksgiving sandwich a la Ross Geller from Friends. But take it slow, don’t wanna over do it and... lose your lunch.
Hybrid THC: 16% CBG: 1% NOVEMBER 2023
This strain is recommended for use in the afternoon, just like when you’d go blackberry picking. Blackberry Kush is often praised for how pretty the nugs look, they often have a soft violet coloring. But when it comes to smoking, users say it's smooth and tasty. The high will leave you with a happy head high that later leaves you relaxed and kind of sleepy.

Once you’ve picked out the strains you want for your ultimate Danksgiving, there are a couple food pairings that can make your high even better, according to Mistifi. These are pairing that are based on what kind of terpenes are in the strains you chose. If your strain has citrus, pine, or tropical notes, some ingredients you’d choose are “ yuzu, kaffir leaves, Meyer lemon and finger limes to accentuate this pen’s bright citrus aromas; white and green asparagus, fish, matsutake mushrooms and rosemary to pair with pine; and vanilla, guava, mango, honey, mascarpone and crème fraîche to highlight the tropical notes.” If your strain has berry, earthy, or floral notes, try using “cardamom, bergamot, mint, lavender, ginger, citrus and basil match wonderfully with berry notes; orange blossom honey, dandelion greens, ginger, lychee, schizandra, hibiscus, coconut and thyme pair well with floral undertones; and dark chocolate, nuts, beetroot, coffee, roasted onions and miso are the perfect way to add complexity and texture to earthiness.” If your choice of strain has woody, juniper, or tart notes, try using “peach, apricot, mango, vanilla, rosemary, caraway, duck, rhubarb, sweet potatoes, pork and hazelnuts can develop depth with juniper notes; pork belly, walnuts, maple syrup, parsley, rosemary and vinegar add nuance to woody notes; and capers, garlic, ricotta, saffron, coriander and star anise round out citrus aromas.” If you’re feeling bold, you can even try to infuse some Thanksgiving favorites with cannabis. (You have to disclose this to your company, nobody wants to see Great Grandma Patty green out on such a special day... but, even after disclosing your deed, keep an eye on your crazy uncle.) If you don’t want to do too much and make an entire dish, bring some infused butter, you can put that sh*t on everything, and your family doesn’t even have to know. Either way, it's up to you! Just be sure to consume safely!

FROM FARMER TO PATIENT
THE JOURNEY OF THE CANNABIS PLANT
Written by Dr. Pepper Hernandez ND, Ph.D. & CTC Have you ever taken the time to really think about how fortunate we are to have flower and what the voyage it undergoes in order to get into your hands? The journey of an organic cannabis flower from grower to consumer involves several steps, each crucial to ensuring a safe, high-quality product reaches the end user. Here's an overview of the process:
I. Cultivation Seed Selection: Farmers start by selecting high-quality organic cannabis seeds or clones. These plants are cultivated using organic farming methods, avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. They pay close attention to which are going to be doing best in their particular growing environment. Growing Environment: Organic cannabis is typically grown in controlled environments, such as indoor or greenhouse facilities, where conditions like light, humidity, and temperature can be regulated. Outdoors are for the hardiest of cultivars and farmers as it is much more difficult but overall the most nutritious of flower and end product when it comes to terpenes and cannabinoids. Organic Practices: Organic growers use natural fertilizers, compost, and beneficial insects to maintain soil fertility and protect plants from pests. They avoid genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and synthetic chemicals. 41

II. Harvesting Timing: Cannabis plants are carefully monitored, and the timing of harvest is crucial. Harvesting too early or too late can significantly impact the potency and quality of the flower Hand Harvesting: Organic cannabis flowers are often hand-harvested to ensure delicate handling, preserving the trichomes and cannabinoids. It takes time but is overall the protection of the trichomes that are affected when not handled correctly.
III. Drying & Curing Drying: After harvest, the flowers are dried in a controlled environment to reduce moisture content. Proper drying prevents mold and mildew growth. There are several methods, but all depend on your location and process.

Curing: The dried flowers are then cured in glass jars, allowing them to develop complex flavors and aromas. Curing also enhances the potency of cannabinoids like THC and CBD.
IV. Testing and Quality Control Lab Testing: Samples from each batch are sent to a laboratory for testing. This ensures the product is free from contaminants like pesticides, heavy metals, and molds. Quality Control: Experienced professionals inspect the flowers for visual cues of quality, including color, trichome density, and overall appearance.
V. Packaging and Labeling Eco-Friendly Packaging: Organic cannabis products are often packaged in eco-friendly materials, considering sustainability and environmental impact. Labelling: Proper labelling includes information about the flower, THC/CBD content, cultivation methods, and certification details (organic certification).
VI. Distribution, Retail & Usage Distribution: Cannabis products, including organic flowers, are distributed to licensed dispensaries and retailers through secure transportation methods. Retail: Knowledgeable staff at retail outlets assist consumers in choosing the right product based on their preferences and needs. They educate consumers about the organic cultivation process and its benefits. Here is the place where the most education is needed, please be advised and know what you are going in for and do the extra research before entering.
Responsible Consumption: Patients purchase organic cannabis flowers for various purposes, including medicinal and recreational use. Responsible consumption is encouraged, following local regulations and guidelines. Feedback: Patients may provide feedback to growers and dispensaries, fostering a continuous improvement cycle in the cultivation and distribution processes.
Throughout this journey, adherence to organic farming practices, rigorous quality testing, and consumer education are paramount. This ensures that the organic cannabis flower reaches the consumer in its purest and most potent form, reflecting the care and expertise of the growers and producers involved in its cultivation.

In a market as competitive and unique as the cannabis industry, local dispensaries face the challenge of standing out in a sea of green. While platforms like Weedmaps have been a go-to for visibility, their high costs have led many dispensary owners to seek more sustainable and costeffective marketing strategies. Enter Local SEO – a powerful tool to increase a dispensary's local market presence without breaking the bank.
POWER OF LOCAL SEO FOR DISPENSARIES
Local SEO, or search engine optimization, is the practice of optimizing a business's online presence to attract more business from relevant local searches. For dispensaries, this means ensuring that when a potential customer in your area searches for cannabisrelated products, your business appears prominently in search results. Why Local SEO Over Weedmaps? Weedmaps has been a popular platform for dispensaries to get noticed. However, its pricing can be prohibitive for smaller businesses. On the other hand, Google, the largest search engine, offers a free listing through Google My Business (GMB), which is a cornerstone of Local SEO. Data from Google Trends and SEO tools like SEMRUSH and AHREFS indicate that more people use Google to find dispensaries than Weedmaps, regardless of location. Tapping into the Local Market Local SEO allows dispensaries to tap into the local market by optimizing for keywords that potential customers are using in their searches. This includes not only "dispensary" but also "cannabis," "CBD," "edibles," and other product-related terms, along with the local area or neighborhood. 45

TOPIC: SKINCARE
DIY Cannabis Skincare Hello, skincare enthusiasts and cannabis aficionados! Today, we're diving into a topic that marries these two worlds beautifully—DIY cannabis skincare. As cannabis gains mainstream acceptance, its therapeutic properties are being explored beyond just edibles and smokables. One such avenue is skincare, where cannabis, particularly CBD and hemp seed oil, is making waves. So, Buz, let's explore how you can create your own cannabis-infused skincare products right at home.

Why Cannabis in Skincare? The integration of cannabis into skincare is more than just a trendy fad; it's backed by a growing body of research highlighting the plant's numerous skincare benefits. From its anti-inflammatory properties to its rich nutrient profile, cannabis offers a holistic approach to skin health. Let's delve deeper into why cannabis is becoming a go-to ingredient in skincare routines. The Power of Cannabinoids Cannabis contains a variety of cannabinoids, the most wellknown of which are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). While THC is primarily known for its psychoactive effects, CBD has gained attention for its therapeutic properties, particularly in skincare. CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that can help reduce redness and calm irritated skin. Its antioxidant properties also make it effective in combating the signs of aging, such as wrinkles and skin dullness.
Treating Specific Skin Conditions CBD's anti-inflammatory properties make it a promising ingredient for treating a variety of skin conditions. For instance, its ability to regulate sebum production can be beneficial for acne-prone skin. Additionally, its soothing effects can be a relief for conditions like eczema and psoriasis, which are characterized by inflammation and dryness. Some studies even suggest that CBD could be effective in treating dermatitis and may have antifungal and antibacterial properties. The Magic of Hemp Seed Oil While CBD often steals the spotlight, hemp seed oil is another cannabis-derived ingredient worth mentioning. Unlike CBD oil, hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant and doesn't contain significant amounts of cannabinoids.
However, it's rich in fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6, as well as gamma-linolenic acid, which are deeply nourishing for the skin. These fatty acids help to strengthen the skin barrier, keeping moisture in and irritants out. This makes hemp seed oil an excellent moisturizer that doesn't clog pores. Synergy with Other Ingredients Cannabis compounds can also work synergistically with other skincare ingredients. For example, when combined with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or vitamin C, the overall skin-soothing and rejuvenating effects can be amplified. This makes cannabis a versatile ingredient that can be incorporated into various types of skincare products, from serums and moisturizers to masks and cleansers.

NATURAL AND HOLISTIC APPROACH In an age where consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of the ingredients in their skincare products, cannabis stands out as a natural alternative to synthetic compounds. Its various bioactive compounds work in harmony with the skin's own endocannabinoid system, offering a more holistic approach to skincare. As you consider incorporating cannabis into your skincare routine, it's clear that this versatile plant offers a range of benefits that go beyond mere surfacelevel improvements. Whether you're looking to treat specific skin conditions or simply want to elevate your daily skincare regimen, cannabis might just be the ingredient you've been searching for.

other medications, it's advisable to consult a healthcare provider before incorporating cannabis into your skincare routine. While cannabis is generally considered safe for topical use, it can interact with certain medications and may not be suitable for all skin types or conditions.
When making your DIY cannabis skincare products, also be mindful of the dosage and concentration of cannabis you're using. Too much of certain cannabinoids, like THC, can have unwanted effects. Always start with a lower concentration and work your way up, especially if you're new to cannabis skincare. If you're using store-bought cannabis oils or tinctures, read the label carefully for concentration information. The legal status of cannabis varies by jurisdiction, so it's essential to be aware of the laws in your area before procuring or using cannabis for skincare. In some places, only CBD derived from hemp may be legal, while in others, products containing THC might also be permitted. Cannabis-infused skincare products, especially DIY ones, may not contain the preservatives that commercial products do. This makes proper storage crucial.
