Women’s Auxiliary Report

Hello Ladies! Whew! This year is flying by and soon we will be into 2022! It was a beautiful day for the Memorial Service this year. We would like to thank the OSFA for putting on a wonderful ceremony, and we would also like to thank the OSFA for including us in the festivities, as it was truly an honor. There are over 800 fire departments in the state of Oklahoma, and there are approximately five auxiliaries that are a part of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association Women’s Auxiliary. That being said, we are looking to expand throughout the state. Currently, we are working on new ideas to bring in new auxiliaries and expand on our membership. We are extremely lucky to be able to have a great group of ladies currently dedicated to helping not only at the state level, but also in their own individual communities. What are the benefits of having a local auxiliary? What is the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association Women’s Auxiliary? What is the difference between local auxiliary and the state level auxiliary? These are some common questions that are asked by many fire spouses, family members of firefighters, and yes, even firefighters themselves. I would like to take a minute here to expand on these questions because I believe it is extremely important in our goal to expanding our membership that people learn the benefits of having an auxiliary at the local level and being a part of the state level.

There are so many benefits to having a local aux2021-22 Women’s Aux iliary. Active auxiliaries are able to raise funds to get Executive Board gear or tools that are needed for the fire department. This year is a very fun and exciting year for the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association Women’s AuxPAST PRESIDENT iliary. The Women’s Executive Board will be hosting Michele Cole the first ever OSFAWA Christmas Party! We would like momachel@aol.com to extend the invite to all firefighter spouses and firefighter family members. It will be held at the Oklahoma Firefighters Museum on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. Ladies, you can wear your favorite ugly sweater and bring a Dirty Santa gift and your favorite sweet treat! It will be a great time with fun games and lots of laughter. We look forward to seeing some familiar and some new faces. We can’t wait to see you there!
