Availability of Places and Registration for Yr 9/ 13+ and Yr 10/ 14+ Applicants: Q. I am an overseas student / I do not attend a UK Prep School. Can I still apply for 2021? A. Yes. You can register online via ‘Admissions’ section of The King’s School, Canterbury website: www.kings-school.co.uk/admissions Deadline for entry is 27th November 2020.
Q. Do I need to email any supporting documentation to The Admissions Team before registering? A. Yes. Please supply a copy of your latest school report. No additional information is required prior to registration.

Can anyone register? So long as you are the correct age for your year group (under 14 on 1st September year of entry for 13+, and under 15 on 1st September for 14+ entry) you can apply. Please also be aware that King’s is a fast-paced academic school. Levels of spoken and written English must be excellent.

Is there a fee to register? Yes. There is a £200 non-refundable administration fee.

Can I sit exams if I have not registered? No. You must have registered before you sit King’s Entrance Exams.

I am applying for Yr 9 / Yr 10 entry in 2021. When will I sit King’s Entrance Exams (KEE)? King’s Entrance Exams will take place on 9th January 2021.

Does The King’s School arrange the appointment at the British Council? No. You will need to approach your local British Council Offices and arrange the appointment. The Exams Officers at The British Council will advise you on the process There will be a fee to pay.
Q. Can I prepare for King’s Entrance Exams? A. No preparation of study or revision is required for the sitting of the Yr 9/ 13+ and Yr 10/ 14+ assessments. Q. A.
What format do the exams take? The King’s Entrance Exams are online assessments, plus a written English Paper There are four sections to complete; three online tests and one written paper. The online tests (30 minutes allowed for each section) consist of spatial reasoning, verbal reasoning and numerical questions. Each candidate will also be required to sit a written English paper. There is a link to past English papers available on the King’s website.

How long do the King’s Entrance Exams take? We ask that you book in for 3 hours. This allows for a maximum of 30 minutes per online test and 40 minutes for the English written paper. However, it may not take you the full 3 hours to complete all sections. If you finish sooner, you will not be penalized.

Is there a fee to sit the King’s Entrance Exams? King’s does not ask for a fee but the British Council will charge a fee for their time and facilities (please check locally).

When will I know how I performed in my King’s Entrance Exams? Exams are sat at the beginning of January (in the same year of entry) and offers are made in early February (in the same year of entry). For example: if you sat for a place in either Yr 9 or Yr 10 for entry in September 2021, your King’s Entrance Exams would take place at the beginning of January 2021 and you will be contacted by us in early February 2021.
