Pottery Throwdown

Come along and try your hand at the King’s Pottery Throwdown. Learn how to throw on the wheel with a few surprise challenges. Will you be the potter of King’s Week? Come and get your hands dirty on The Green Court to find out.

Inter-house Competition

This event will see pupils representing their house in a huge variety of events, including volleyball, debating, egg and spoon races, poetry or Mariokart. Combined with Sports Day, the competition will result in a King’s Week House Trophy. Who can prove themselves strong across the board?

Inter-house Debating Final

Mixed-age teams with one member from each of two houses will have undergone the gruelling preliminary rounds during the inter-house competition, and made it through to the final to debate for you.

Fête Stalls

Each house runs a fête stall, capturing the classic English summer fête atmosphere. Come along to enjoy yourself whilst supporting the King’s Week Charity.

The Green Court Finals

Sports Day was traditionally held in The Green Court, where there were ‘nine laps to the mile’. In an annual nod to this tradition, pupils in six different races will run two to three laps in a bid for their house to win the Catterall & Brookes’ silver cups.

Classic Bikes

Cycle around The Green Court on a classic bicycle, taking in the sites at a leisurely pace or racing a friend in what may turn out to be a rather uneven contest!

Come and experience Full-Circle Bell ringing on a portable belfry! Learn more from the experts from 1-6 pm on Sunday 3rd - Tuesday 5th. The times below are for a quarter peel or long touch, rung by the Cathedral Bell Ringing Society.

Get in touch with your crafty side this King’s Week by joining in some mindful and creative activities. Will you make a card or keepsake for a friend or just enjoy zoning out in the sun with colouring for mindfulness? Relax, socialise and have a more productive yet lazy afternoon!

Paws for Thought

Paws for Thought is returning this year to King’s Week! Read and relax under the shade of the trees, in the company of a loyal and attentive animal listener! All ages and reading abilities welcome.

The Variety

This show will provide the most diverse and unpredictable performances of King’s Week. Is it music? Is it dance? Is it a skill? Is it a talent? Similar to a talent show, but with none of the brutal judging, come along to discover those hidden abilities!

Lab on the Lawn

It is with pleasure that Lab on the Lawn returns this year, taking its traditional place under the shade of the Green Court trees beside Lardergate. We aim to enthuse our audience with a love of science, through fun and engaging practicals, scientific treats, and static displays for the curious.

Sunrise & sunset yoga & pilates

Come and join a sunrise or sunset yoga or pilates session to embrace the full days of King’s Week! Sunrise sessions (plus bacon butty) will invigorate you for the day ahead, and sunset sessions will allow reflection and time to unwind before bed.

Ergathon

Come and join the 12-hour Ergathon, whether you are new, experienced or rusty! Sign up on your own or with a friend for a 30 or 15-minute slot to raise money for the King’s Week Charity and bring the total distance closer to our goal of 400km.
