Skogstad and outdoor fun should be synonymous! On the water’s edge at the west coast of Norway, in beautiful, tranquil surroundings, lies Innvik, a small village and parish in the municipality of Stryn, situated on the southern side of Innvikfjorden. Talented craftsmen have left their mark on local culture for generations. The story of Skogstad began here over 70 years ago, in a small cabin up in the valley. Starting off with tailoring in 1937, expanding into production of anoraks in the 70’s with Skogstad Jr. in charge, Skogstad Sport with Mr. Skogstad’s grandson in the lead seat, offers today a wide product range within their two brands; Skogstad, and the newly developed brand BRE. With over 70 years of experience on the Norwegian market, Skogstad Sport is ranked as one of the top three suppliers in the sports industry in Norway in 2012, and is still eager for development. This means that we work to ensure that our collaborating partners and suppliers maintain sufficient standards regarding their respective working environments and business operations. Several of our factories are based in China and it is important to us that factory employees enjoy properly regulated and favourable working conditions. We often review our suppliers’ operations to ensure that standards are being met and we are proud of having an ethical quality assurance process that stands up to scrutiny. Skogstad will not permit child labour to be used in the production of its clothes. Social responsibility At Skogstad we are very aware of our geographic roots and we work continuously to promote and support positive initiatives in our region. As an example of this, we could mention Skogstad’s partnership with Firda Upper Secondary School in Sandane. Media & Communication pupils at the school work in close partnership with Skogstad’s marketing department so that they may gain some valuable work experience. By working with a strong local brand, they can try their hand at various types of marketing. From January 2012, through the concept ’Kvardagsheltar’(Everyday Heroes), Skogstad has paid homage to Norwegian citizens who promote the joy of the outdoors on a voluntary basis. This may be, for example, enthusiasts in organisations and clubs who, over the years, have dedicated much of their time to the benefit of others. Award winners will be chosen by a jury comprising Eli Kari Gjengedal, Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset and Knut Roger Nesdal. Skogstad also supports ’Drive for life’ – an adapted adventure and leisure service for children and young persons (read more at kjorforlivet.no). Skogstad will make clothes for distribution through this initiative, which is also supported by the Norwegian Crown Prince and Crown Princess and the industrial and financial group, FERD. The environment Skogstad strives to minimise harm to the environment resulting from its business operations. Several parts of the company have been transformed in order to reduce environmental impact. This is an area we will continue to focus on in the coming years.

What type of equipment? Telemark or randonnĂ¨. Let the shop staff know what kind of trips youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re going on. What type of clothing? Inner: Wool. Then a layer of fleece, powerstretch or more wool. Shell jacket and trousers on the outside. Gloves, hat, neck warmer and sunglasses are mandatory. Remember avalanche transmitter/ receiver, protected by a layer of clothing. In the back pack? Avalanche equipment: Spade and probe. Map and compass, first-aid equipment, sitting mat, extra wool, down jacket, gloves, helmet and goggles. A supply of hot drink and provisions is obviously important. On the ascent: Ensure that footwear is not too tight, avoid excessive clothing. Select a slope that is not too steep. Save energy by pushing your skis instead of lifting them. Take it in turns to lead. Study the map frequently along the way; consult the map with other members of your group. Ensure that you consume sufficient amounts of food and drink. Bear in mind the route that you intend to take down. On the descent: Firmly tighten footwear. Put on sufficient clothing. Remember, you may easily fall in the snow. Adjust the ski poles. Talk at length with other members of your group before the descent commences so that everyone is familiar with the route being taken. Constantly assess the terrain and do not stop above each other in steep terrain. Taking part in an avalanche course or a summit trip course can be a really good investment. You will receive valuable tips on appropriate mountain conduct.

How to make the best pancakes: Take the time to whisk the eggs and sugar thoroughly together. You may add the remaining ingredients according to your preference, as long as you mix everything properly together. The pancakes are usually fried on a griddle but itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s also ok to use

a frying pan. Flip the pancakes when small bubbles begin to appear on the surface. Serve with butter, sugar, brown cheese or butter cream. Or completely natural ... there you go, enjoy!
