Dear music-lover! Welcome to Melodica Aarhus 2014. This year marks our fifth anniversary, and as we look back upon our first four years, we’re proud of the long string of Danish and foreign songwriters who have graced the festival stages. We’re also proud to present a 2014 program packed with musical morsels that showcase the quality, vitality and diversity of the singer-songwriter genre. Expect a festival where there is room for the classic troubadour with guitar and harmonica, the songwriter who creates an electronic universe of music – and everyone in between. We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers who have been helping the festival run smoothly; to Sidsel Bech Kiilerich for creating a marvelous festival poster; and to Misha Hoekstra for translating the program. Last but not least we’d like to thank Aarhus Municipality, Akustikken, Engelsholm Folk High School, Backstage and Gyngen. Melodicah Aarhus 2014 would never have been possible without their backing and support. All that’s left to say is that we look forward to seeing you, the audience ENJOY THE MUSIC! Melodica Aarhus? Melodica Aarhus is part of an international network of songwriter festivals. The first Melodica festival took place in Melbourne in 2007. After that it spread to Sydney, New York, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Groningen, Aarhus and Reykjavik. Besides giving audiences a chance to become familiar with the variety and excellence of songwriting on the local and international scene, Melodica festivals are also dedicated to strengthening their network and promoting interactions between songwriters across national boundaries. About our poster artist Sidsel Bech Kiilerich works primarily as an illustrator and graphic artist, with clients including Musikskolen LAURA, Skrallebang, Deer Bear, Kasper Spez, This Machine and many more. ANDREAS STENT LUNDBY Presenting an absorbing world of songs about love’s sharp edges, Andreas Lundby unfurls himself in a poetic borderland between giddy infatuation and the loneliness of loss.
