Barcelona Institute of Architecture The task was to create a dwelling for a family of four. The resulting typology can be placed inside a multi-family building, be a town-house or a standalone house. The main focus of the project was internal organization and working of the space. The project breaks down the dwelling into basic components and parameters of comfortable habitation. Then a rule of their interaction is established: level of illumination being the XY axis, thermal equilibrium being the Z axis. This way a three dimensional model of the positioning of basic actions in the dwelling is created. The elements of the dwelling are shaped according to the minimal space required to perform an action. eg.: sleep, eat. These elements are then placed into the space model and fit as compact within the set rules as possible. This approach creates comfortable climatic zones for the inhabitants without the need to adjust each space separately. The whole dwelling acts as one organism. Romanova Olga

Water Layers Barcelona Institute of Architecture The goal of the project was to create a façade with an active program that would layer itself onto the building. It was decided to use the building as a SPA and gym. All the water needed for operation is taken from the sea and is freeze desalinated as it moves through the building's façades. All states of water are used for the various functions of the SPA.

A pre-existing building was given as a basis for design. A disused parking garage in the Barcelona Prat Airport. It is located close to the sea, which inspired the freeze desalination plant idea. The facades are made out of glass and transparent concrete, with water moving either inside the facade structure or next to it in transparent pipes. The “Ice” and “Cold Water” facades create a cool climate for the restaurant, reception and gym. The “Hot Water” facade provides water and warmth for the pool area. And the “Steam ” facade provides humid and dry areas for the spa.
Public Space as a Tool for Dialog Workshop by TYIN Architects For the workshop we were given an transitory area between a shopping mall and the entrance to the metro station. This area was disliked by the locals and they hurried past it without stopping. Our goal was to invite them to stay and enjoy this place. After asking the local residents what they miss in this area, we found out that there are no benches to sit and rest and no shade. The group was given a task to design wooden street furniture that would have more than one form of use and would fit in a given module. I took to heart the complaint about the lack of shade and came up with a design for a bench with shading. We had one day to build our installation. So out of the different proposals by the group a simpler system of modules was built. Later I decided to finish my idea. The design evolved into a bench with shading integrated with a bicycle rack.

POP-UP SPACE Workshop by OK-RM Part of a series of workshops for Changing Urban Environment The workshop was about creating scenarios and elements for a series of pop up events. We were given a testing ground (the remaining foundations of a building with a bridge built above). We started from the building, thinking of the spaces that the rooms of a building create. From a blueprint of a house with movable outlines of rooms we went to a grid system. All the elements for the pop up event had to fit on the grid and be modular. From there we developed a catalogue of furniture elements and structures. These objects can all be built from a combination of five basic elements and secured together by zip strips. This enables fast assembly and disassembly and can be performed by anyone. The main idea behind the project is that by downloading the catalogue anyone can easily assemble a pop up space that fits their needs. Romanova Olga
Private House This was an interior design project done while working for RIMSHA Architectural Studio. For this project I worked on conceptual design and did visualisations for the first phase of the project. The design included many custom designed furniture pieces. During the second phase I’ve worked on the design documentation, including: elevations, sections, details, plans.
