THE LAB

Despite of enormous amount of funds in medical industry, Russian market is staying not enough competitive. Large foreign companies are producing their own products on the territory of Russia and there is no possibility for domestic production. For the great impact, it’s necessary to build some objects, which could be used as links between science and industry.

Aim:

Complex analysis of modern Russian market for identification its problems and needs.

Tasks: Analysis of the structure of health care and identify the position of medical research centers; Analysis of the facilities which can be used as a platform for scientific-research centers; Creating of typological number based on functional profile and the type of investment; Analysis of world union standards for laboratory centers design Making the program of functions for laboratory center, identifying its particular features and areas Analysis of country innovation model for improving of pharmacy market Analysis of the territory, what can be used for creating such a model

Structure:

The principle of equatation between retained and used areas laid down to the basis of the project design and featured in to the work of core

laboratory module in the context of dynamical spiral form. Achieved structure evolves as a three dimensional entity and equally scales to outside and inside. As a result, the form of the building consists of proportionally decreasing to the center of functional blocks volumes. The chosen composition method allowed to reach correct distribution of private and public spaces and organized logical and empirical connections between building blocks and features into the needed insolation levels of spaces.

Summary results: The laboratories could be built near large hospitals, academic facilities and industry companies Functional profile of the center is not depend on the category of funding, but private centers, which are orientated on the industry, are often the largest once. The union world standards, which have been using during last 60 years all over the world, are begin to produce in our country only in last decade For creating a truly sustainable environment its necessary to build it as multi functional platform with possibility to upgrade for future changes Despite of high level of science and industry, its necessary to provide some events which could link this areas in one. There’s a positive tendency to implement local products There’s a pharmacy or medical industry in every Russian region The clusters is the result of big concentration of interrelated objects Its necessary to implement not only a standards for building but a new working principles too

SCHOOL

Despite huge investments in educational field, Russian schools needs more than simple reconstruction and construction of new buildings – All the educational system requires innovational approach for it’s future development. As a result, generic school planning with system of classes and corridors needs full revision.

Tasks: Ability for fast transformation for integration of new devices or tuition programs; Contributes development of creative potential, communication skills and physical activity; Allows each student to express his own individuality, set his own goals, and take responsibility for the result; Unites different ages and cultural groups in local and global scales; To be a universal media space; Involves a multi seasonal and multiage usage. Give ability to use these spaces not only for students but also for local residents for multi-purpose facilities of education and culture; Comfortable location and high security level, availability for people with limited mobility;

Structure:

The structure of the building embodies the ideas of the training system through the granulation scale areas within a general modular system. Each space of interior and exterior is a potential place for tuitions. Space organization motivates children to play and move more in the times of breaks between lessons.

The school consists of main tuition area with a grid of classes and free recreational area with functional cores. The volume is formed by 9 cylinders that becomes a bearing structure of the building and supports curved roof. Each cylinder is a void that has its own functionality (dining room, library, assembly hall). The roof represents exploitable spaces and is supported by volumetric frame structure in the form of the web. The project is deeply integrated in to existing landscape.

Summary results:

While working on the project (Master degree first course), a comprehensive analysis of modern systems of education was made. It’s principles became a base for the created universal educational center. In addition it should be noticed, that special attention was paid to shaping of constructive structure and creation on analytical model in Autodesk Revit.

ASYLUM

Lately psychiatry, as a branch of medicine, has become abandoned in Russia. Despite breakthrough in medication and development of new treatment programs for people with mental diseases, there are very few places of long-term accommodation for mentally unbalanced people. Frequently they are forced to wait for years to be placed in a special center.

Tasks:

Centers for people with psycho-neurological problems, as special objects, have been changing historically, and now they obligatory have a particular internal structure (with different, separated from each other, zones, intended for different functions). The main characteristic of these centers is their location: the quiet natural surroundings often become vitally important for the health of the inhabitants of such centers. The people are not only its patients, they are also its inhabitants; The place must be multi-functional and become at the same time an efficient hospital, a safe working place, and a comfortable home for its population. It must also become a closed commune which helps a person to adapt in social life

Structure:

The object’s structural organization is a combination of four logarithmic spirals which all begin in one point. The generators and their guides create different functional zones. The main bearing elements coincide with generators’. Because of the natural slope of the relief the object has 3 levels with a difference of 1.5 m. The Center has its own farmland; it helps save money, provides the inhabitants with fresh vegetables; working of the farm becomes an important part of the therapy. The local population helps in organizing different events and activities for the leisure of the inhabitants of the Center.

Program:

Population of the Center consists of 150 people in the living sections, which has 3 blocks (for males, females, and shared by males and females); 12% of these people cannot take care of themselves and need constant assistance. The section of treatment of uncontrollable patients is designed for 20 people.

Top floor:

A standard block consists of 9 living sections. Each living section is intended for 4 to 6 people (7 m2 for person) with a shared area between 2 sections, and a bathroom and a WC in each section. Each living section has a loggia. There is room for staff, a station of medication distribution, and buffet on this floor. Spacious hall areas function as corridors and as lounges for leisure activities.

Lower floor:

This floor is the main work and study zone for the Center’s inhabitants. There are different workshops (such as art, sewing, pottery etc.). This area can be also used for group meetings and group activities. Each workshop has a teacher’s room, a storage area and a WC. This floor includes space for staff, business offices and infirmary (isolator).

Summary results:

Because considerable part of its inhabitants has incurable mental illnesses, these people cannot reside outside of special institutions. Some of them arrive from special medical institutions for children after they become adults. These people, besides medical care, also need a certain approach and special program of development. Despite a perspective of a long stay at a boarding center, there is a possibility of rehabilitation and social integration for the center’s patients.

MODULE CAFE

Despite the fact that Bulgaria is one of the most relevant countries for the tourism on the Black sea coast, there is only a few resorts there and as a result these resorts suffer from excessive concentration of tourists. One of solutions that can help to redistribute human flows can be found in organization of temporal seasonal pavilions that can be produced and maintained by local people. The final product has to be easy to assemble and perform the list of basic functions: Catering ( seasonal harvest and fishing ) To be in balance with environmental factors (effectively protect from sun light and rain, not to depend on tidal water and other environment issues ) To be produced with inexpensive and easily replaceable materials and constructions.

Structure:

Within defined framework of objectives was designed a wooden restaurant that consists of modular cells. One of the features of this structure is sustainability and ability to be easily modified for the specific needs. The frames with rotatable panels that work on a principle of blinds can maintain the functionality of the flat wall, latticed window or doorway. Moreover, folding frames, give the ability to convert the “solid box” into two-level open space. Thus the whole project system is a versatile assembly that contains 5 different combinations.

Summary results:

The concept of modifiable construction was designed on the third course of the bachelor degree. Moreover, as result of further analysis, the project has undergone a constructive optimization targeted for selection of specific materials and mechanisms, while retaining the main idea of “blinds” in its original form.

CLUB

The density of cultural-entertainment centers in the capital is quite high accordingly to the other megapolicies in country, but big cities located on the periphery suffer from lack of them. Territories that were being developing in the start of XX century now needs new areas deeply integrated with environment that could offer hybrid functionality of theatres, educational centers and exhibition spaces. This kind of functionality could interest different layers of society and could became informal space for communication and social activities.

Tasks: The space available at any season, multifunctional usage by multiage people for social activities and for personal development; Free space planning, that can be transformed for maintaining different events; People flows design accordingly to the norms of fire safety and accessibility for persons with disabilities;

Structure:

Usage of the multi-span trusses and generic module grid gave the ability to create different kind of spaces for functional areas. The contrast between full glazed panoramic windows on top and solid volume at the bottom of the building gave the ability to separate public and private space of the building and featured into advantages of usage second light for energy preservation. In addition, the bottom level behaves as a visual pedestal for presentation to the visitors inside and for the surrounding context.

Summary results:

Developed on the 3rd course under the influence of modernism, the club was the first project created using BIM technology.
