OLGA SANTANO PONS
ABOUT ME
My name is Olga Santano Pons and I am studying third year design at ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny. Even though I try not to stay too long at the same place, my roots are in Barcelona. I really believe that traveling is one of the best ways to improve knowledge and it also helps to know yourself. From my point of view, spend time between cities and discover new ones, is very important to get information, to be enriched in the personal way and create new inquisitiveness.
I realized that I prefer working with indoor spaces to solve very difficult or impossible challenges and to create an appropriate background for people living there. However I think that design has to be integral and global.
Those thoughts encouraged me, when I finished at High School, to study design and engineering. I enjoy finding out how things are made and how they work. I found in design the best way to solve my questions, so I can do what I really like, and It sounds like a cliché but it is very important to achieve the best goals. When I started at University, I did not know which speciality of design I could study, but thanks to the different possibilities I was offered,
I’m deeply interested in your kind of projects and how your face up design through totally different methodology and concepts referring to my own University. So i’m certain it will be one of the best chances I have if I want to improve my work. I’m looking forward to achieve this main goal which knowledgment and open my mind to a new time in my life.
To sum up, I have received very positive information about Germany and your university. No doubt in applying to an exchange with Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.

REDESIGN LE PETIT CABANON
The redesign of Le Petit Cabanon is a project that consists in two distinct parts. The first is the study of this construction and the study about the Le Corbusier concepts and ideology, and then I rethink the same space using it in a different and optimum way to achieve different personal goals: I had to analyze myself and find out which are my needs and how to solve it in this space.
page 08
LE PETIT CABANON
CONCEPT
The dimensions are 16 square meters. It just have four walls and totally empty, so I have to furnish it creating the ideal work and study space for myself.
ATMOSPHERE
To do my best when i’m working on a project, I need a really calm and chilly atmosphere, and visually clean because it’s easy for me to distract. So the space couldn’t be messy or not arranged and the inside wouldn’t have a lot of furniture or volumes.

DISTRIBUTION
MAIN GOAL
On the construction of this interior I’ve tried to create a room where the lights and the shadows will be the space dividers. There is only one table in the middle of the room, and all the activities happens around there. It’s a way to solve the initial problemes such as the litlle space, or the cleanliness. At first, I analysed different kind of distributions and then I found the best one that adapts to me.

We solved the whole project, from the space to the graphic.

MAIN GOAL
One of the requirements to design this space is the consistency in the conceptualization and analysis of the relationship between subject – object – space and to show a degree of innovation of the proposal it has been one of the others.
For the other hand, the relationship between materials and their semantic value and taking into account the space, equipment and applied graphics are values to achieve a good project.

This project solves many of the space problems that are caused in the home halls, attending to every single detail and converting it into an object suitable for everyone.

TUBULAR HALL
CONCEPT
Each individual is different. Their needs are different. The space that they have is also different. His tastes. Hobbies. But in this case, my intention was to do something equally useful for everyone.
SPACE
I focused on the home hall, the area that many people call “area of step, and all the houses have one but in every home is different. However, I tried to detect certain problems that give me the idea to create a new kind of hall.
ANALYSIS
For me, the most important point was the route that people trace on the hall. So I did an analysis to be able to understand it in detail.

MAIN GOAL
When I’d all the analysis done, I discovered that we waste more space because the furniture was placed horizontally. So I decided to take the route itself on the ground, and raise it vertically. Through this, and with a simple plastic profile, I built a vertical and tubular hall.

BLISS JEWELRY
SILVER JEWELRY DESIGN Bliss is the result of getting to an emotional state described as perfect happiness. Which leads you to follow your dreams and make them come true.
page 80
THE PROJECT
Bliss arises as the response of the initiative of two design students from Barcelona. My friend and I propose to offer exclusive pieces of jewelry within the ethnic line; which will be crafted entirely with Peruvian 9,5 polished silver, and foremost, handcrafted. Most of the jewels will be crafted with filigrana, one of the finest techniques for this metal, enhancing it as art.
The creation of the collections comes from our own design, considering the craftsmanship and every single detail, this in order to get a model so unique, personal, and irreplaceable. Making Bliss an imperative dream.
