See back page if you’d like to customize the zine for your own group or huddle of groups. I ask only that you proceed with a civil tongue, a positive tone, and lasersharp determination that the democracy worth fighting for is It’s gonna truthful, civil, and take all of us! compassionate for all. The NM Progressive Coalition is a group of progressive individuals and organizations dedicated to the following principles: -Helping progressive groups and individuals better connect and communicate; -Developing a grassroots draft progressive platform as a living document that can be used to inform future policy/electoral/party decisions; -Transforming the Democratic party from within by getting more progressives involved in the party official election process at the ward, precinct, and state central committee levels; and -Working with progressive partners to support a progressive policy agenda in the upcoming legislative session.

Public Narrative Training: April 1 & 2

Progressive Organizing Training: Learning to Tell our Stories The NM Progressive Coalition is offering a training in a battle-tested method of organizing called "Public Narrative," an organizing practice developed by veterans of the Civil Rights movement, the peace movement, the women's movement, the farmworkers' unionization struggle, and the grassroots aspects of the election of President Obama in 2008 and 2012. http://nmProgressiveCoalition.com/ nmprogressivecoalition@gmail.com @nmprogressivecoalition

HOBBS — NM Representative Steve Pearce will hold a town hall in Hobbs, the second in eight days. The town hall will be held at the Lea County Event Center, 5101 N. Lovington Highway, at 9 a.m. Pearce held a town hall last Saturday in Ruidoso. With only two days notice, the Ruidoso event drew approximately 300 people. Notably, one constituent asked what Pearce intended to do to urge a focus on domestic terrorism and violent racist attacks by Americans on American communities. The answer did not address the question. Pearce represents New Mexico's second congressional district which covers the southern half of New Mexico, including Las Cruces, Roswell and the southern fourth of Albuquerque. The sudden scheduling of these town halls comes only a week after hundreds attended a mock town hall that featured a fake with a Steve Pearce mask. This followed months of refusal by Pearce to face his constituents. He also recently held a telephone town hall.

New Mexico

Congressional Representatives Store this number in your speed dial, and phone once a day: 202-225-3121. Remember you have TWO U.S. Senators - and if you don't know their names, the friendly Congressional operator will tell you who they are and connect you. They will also give you the numbers and info below.

The Carlsbad Indivisible group asks for help from fellow New Mexicans. They are requesting members from NM 2D Indivisible groups to support them in Hobbs. Without more progressive attendees, Carlsbad is concerned that they will be drowned out by Pearce’s hometown supporters, and Pearce will finally be able to get the soundbite he was unable to get in Ruidoso. Please, if possible, let’s present a united front.

Here we are! At least 49 Indivisible groups in New Mexico, sorted below, by zip code. The site only allows one to search by zip, so searching within 100 miles of various locations yielded the following. The link for this zine will be sent to each of these addresses, with a request that leaders forward the link to members. If you have something to add to this zine, email Indivisible Snowcap at theindivisiblefront@hotmail.com. To find the group in your area, go to Indivisible Find a Group and enter your zip. For the moment, it seemed like a good idea to have a list should we need it. We’ll just see how this goes, eh?

Some still don’t know about Indivisible. Many don’t realize that a massive community of the resistance is due to the efforts of a group of former congressional staffers who put together an online guide to resisting the Trump agenda. Yet in only a ten weeks, Indivisible has grown to over 7,300 groups across America, supported by this amazing team. The Indivisible team has grown from one Google Doc and a few staffers to more than a hundred volunteers, working around the clock to a produce Indivisible tools and resources.” On behalf of 7,000 Indivisible groups, we salute you, and a grateful nation of progressives, thanks you kindly! The latest weekly report says: “Check out the results of this work: 14 million page views, 1.7 million downloads of the guide, 110,000 people have searched for groups or events near them, more than 7,000 groups have registered, more than 1,000 events have been scheduled (in just about one week!), and, yes, more than 5,700 of you have contributed to Indivisible online.” We owe them not only a heartfelt thanks, but also financial recognition that webinars, websites, tech tools, and new staff time are costly. They have now posted a humble request: If you like the new materials we’ve rolled out this week and want to see more like them in the future, we’d be really grateful for your support!

“We believe that Donald Trump’s agenda does not depend on Donald Trump–it depends on members of Congress rubber-stamping that agenda,” says Ezra Levin, a former Democratic staffer and co-founder of the project. “And perhaps the only great thing about Congress is that members are responsive to their constituents. Every member of Congress wakes up thinking about re-election.”

Movement 2017: A tool for those who want to offer financial support to lesserknown organizations in their communities. Millennials for Revolution, a group of former People for Bernie organizers, realized that activists, need a base of operations to strategize and if necessary stay for a few nights when in Washington DC. They’ve neared their goal of raising $50,000 to cover rent on a space near the Capitol for a year—90 percent of their donations turned out to be $27—and signed a lease on a property this week. For more info, or if you want to support their effort, check out District 13 House. The ACLU reportedly raised $24 million during the weekend following the announcement of Trump’s “Muslim Ban,” but there are dozens of local legal aid groups that will also need support as the resistance spreads. Rewire compiled a list of 24 of smaller legal-aid organizations, with brief descriptions of each. Check it out here. Buycott Trump partnered with an existing app scans barcodes and QVCs to offers you information about the politics of the companies who make the products you see on store shelves. (Download the app at the link above.)

We have a million hobbies between us. If you knit, make hats. If you like glitter, bling up some signs. If you play in a band, do a shout out to a friend who is marching, “This is for those working for the high ground.”

Movement Match: Works to direct people who are new to the movement to organizations led by experienced activists and seasoned organizers.

The Pussy Hat Project: Knitting circles produce handmade pussy hats for participants in the women’s marches, as well as family and friends. They also plot the resistance!

Remember—for some, silent protest is appropriate. Show understanding to those who are with us in spirit, but for whom protesting is not safe due to a family, health, or work situation. Still, those helpful hearts are not to be squandered! This is a marathon, and maintaining a momentum of ALL who support is critical. Here are a few ideas for the introverts, home-bound, and otherwise necessarily silent pro-

Protesting from the Kitchen Resistance Cookies, Cupcakes & Other Delectables! If marching isn’t your gig, or you’re just not up to it, make a few dozen of these with a friend or a child. “Resist!” “Truth” “Justice”. Plant little toothpick messages in cupcakes. Name your new recipe, Resistance Asparagus or Progressive Penne Parmesan. Make a cookbook! Send us your photos to: theindivisiblefront@hotmail.com

Keyboard Protesting Research, Start a Blog, Help with Mailing Lists—Find Tidbits to Post Find your niche. Look online for groups who can use your computer expertise. Facebook Interaction I call it Facebook Engagement Fatigue. First, note number three on the facing page. Don’t argue with supporters. On the other hand, if you must, perhaps it keeps them busy. Please, don’t be an ass. It makes us all look bad, and that’s not our tone. Send ideas of fun activities for children, signs, items of interest that may go by. This zine isn’t really about reposting articles, but rather resistance actions or creative activities.

Remote Control/Recliner Chair Protesting Peel Those Bleary Eyes for Items of Interest Just keep a little notepad nearby. Jot down phrases, ideas, and info that strikes you as helpful to resistors with a bit more spunk. Remember to surrender your notes to someone who can make use of them. Knit hats. Stay informed. You can be a big help, even just sitting there!

We are the storm, and we will leave light in our wake!

Independent & Assisted Living Protesting Always Looking to be Useful! Check out your local independent and assisted living homes. Ask or post a sign looking for volunteers to serve as a support team for a local Indivisible group. Perhaps they would like to partner with cheerleaders or a scout group. Be sure to supervise—but many projects would benefit—stamping envelopes, making protest signs, even phoning representatives or Indivisible group members. Discover their talents—you never know!

PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR THESE TIMES

1. Don't use his name; 2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone; 3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work; 4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state; 5. Keep your message positive; this administration wants the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow; 6. No more helpless/hopeless talk; 7. Support artists and the arts; 8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it; 9. Take care of yourselves; and 10. Resist Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, "When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor." When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Republican Administration," or "The Republicans." This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.
