I like my coffee black. I like my design simple. I’m provoked by the unusual.
I dream up new worlds regularly.
I hope you like this one.

Phat Haus 2nd Year / Studio / Individual Public + Residential Cambridge, Ontario
Phat Haus is a residential project which combines community spaces, private residential units and a skate park in order to provide the city of Cambridge with an active community that brings a new energy to its surroundings. The project consists of an outdoor skate park on the ground floor, a community centre on its first floor, with programs such as a workshop, a laundry room and a exhibition space, and residential apartments on the second, third and fourth floors. The inspiration for Phat Haus stemmed from a personal interest in the culturally-rich and anarchical lifestyle of skateboarders.

Biblioteka 1st Year / Studio / Individual Public + Community Toronto, Ontario
Biblioteka is a library, a bike cooperative and a meeting place. The southern half of the building is a library, while the northern half includes a bike cooperative on the first floor, an assembly room on the second floor and a greenhouse/study space on the top floor. Outside, Biblioteka proposes a solution for the use of interstitial spaces in the city by turning an alleyway into the building’s main entrance and pedestrian passage through the site. A lack of separating walls and an abundance of windows create open, permeable and flexible spaces.

craneWALK 1st Year / Environmental Studies / Group Public + Sustainable London, England
craneWALK is an elevated path constructed on an existing dock located in London, England. The design is a conglomeration of old cranes, something borrowed and something new. The original Battersea cranes remain iconic in their towering presence over the path. Control booths of other abandoned cranes are refurbished to house a variety of small businesses. New structural components are created through the melting and casting of old cranes. Together these elements create a public promenade that both monumentalizes and gives function to the Battersea Cranes.

Rendered View of the Walkway (Rhino, Photoshop) While walking up the craneWALK, one is exposed to a variety of small stores and cafes on the south side of the path. They may choose to simply browse, sit down and enjoy the view or continue on to the terrace garden.

A Maker’s Space First Year / Studio / Individual Public + Community Toronto, Ontario
A Maker’s Space is a live-in studio surrounded by an abundance of evergreen trees, located along a river bank. This project focuses on the importance of isolation of the maker from the world and the separation of work and sleep. The maker is given a space where they can focus on what they are creating, both indoors and outdoors.

Cambodian Silk 1B / Visual Communications / Group Graphic Design
This project entailed the creation of two poster boards that used info graphics and other illustrative methods to describe and explain the process of creating silks on a typical Cambodian silk farm. The focus of the first panel was on representing the manual process of making silk in chronological order, while the second panel focuses more on the political and economic aspects of post-production.

Centre for Architecture + Design
w: waterlooarchitecture.com/bridge/ e: bridge@waterlooarchitecture.com
BRIDGE is a student-run organization, consisting of both graduates and undergraduates at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. I was introduced to BRIDGE upon arriving at the School of Architecture and I have been an avid member ever since. Together, members of the BRIDGE team maintain a digital presence (through media such as Facebook and Instagram) and organize events at their Cambridge storefront to reach out to the University of Waterloo and the Cambridge community through the promotion of architecture and design.
100 blank notebooks were loaned to 100 creative minds at the School of Architecture and the Cambridge community in January 2015 and were collected in April 2015. The result was an amazingly interactive exhibit at the BRIDGE storefront.
Other events hosted at the Bridge storefront include karaoke night, coffee house, photography exhibits and the presentation of recent publications of professors at the School of Architecture.
Renovations are still underway at the BRIDGE storefront, and include scraping wood floors, sanding, cleaning and painting.
