In a land far, far away, yet somehow strangely familiar, Aladdin and his mother are struggling to make ends meet.

Aladdin dreams of living the lifestyle of a prince and his mother – not quite the fairest in the land – imagines riches beyond her wildest dreams.

If only magic existed. If only there were such things as genies and enchanted lamps… well, this is pantomime and anything is possible!

Everyone knows that the skies above our houses are filled with magic around Christmas time. Look closely and you’ll see the Christmas star, closer still and you might see Santa’s sleigh with Rudolph at the front. But the best way to see everything is up in the sky!

Join the crew aboard the Christmas Flying Machine on a journey up, up and away. Flap the wings, work the controls and steer the captain’s wheel as we embark on a secret mission for Santa all the way to the North Pole.

After the success of last year’s interactive children’s show 59 minutes to Save Christmas, this is another Christmas treat with lots of participation for intrepid adventurers and their useful adults.

Saturday 14 February Whether you’re head over heels in love or searching for a soul-mate, get in the mood this Valentine’s Day and join us for a very special celebration of love and romance.

Inspired by the King Oliver Creole Jazz Band, Chris formed his first band in 1949 at the age of nineteen and has gone on to become not only Europe’s most successful and influential bandleader, but a bona fide jazz legend.

A talented cast of actors and musicians will share with you some of the most beautiful love songs, love poems and love letters ever written from the distant past to the present day. Enjoy a wide range of old favourites, new discoveries and a couple of surprises.

With his ten-piece band, featuring a sevenstrong front line, Chris plays a selection of his favourite music from his roots in New Orleans style to the early music of Duke Ellington and Sidney Bechet, before going back to When the Saints.

When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, and meets a colourful array of characters, such as Corny Collins and Velma Von Tussle (the villainous producer of the show who does everything in her power to further her daughter’s career and destroy Tracy’s and Corny’s).

Big hair, big heart, big dance routines and big hits. Revisit the 60s with You Can’t Stop the Beat, Good Morning Baltimore and many more.

Tuesday 10 March The amazing debut of Wim Vandekeybus and Ultima Vez in 1987 stunned the world of dance. Receiving the prestigious Bessie Award in New York for this ‘brutal confrontation of dance and music’.

28 years later and with a new cast, the show still stands as one of the most exciting pieces of dance ever made and is once again on an unmissable world tour.

Vandekeybus’ first piece of choreography balances on the razor edge of attraction and repulsion. Dancers are driven to act and react at high speed and with split second timing, to each other, and the music.

Thursday 9 – Friday 10 April Following last year’s sell-out performances the international smash-hit returns by popular demand.

Lucky Eric, Judd, Les and Ralph are the original men in black as they tell the tale of one night in a Yorkshire disco. All the gang are out on the town, the boys, the girls, the cheesy DJ, the late night kebab man and the taxi home, all under the watchful eyes of the Bouncers.

His repertoire of voices includes hundreds of the world's top singers, however, he is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who says, “Joe can do me better than I can do myself”.

Friday 24 April Against his mother’s wishes, Lemminkäinen travels to the icy north in search of a bride. There, impossible tasks await him: he must face the Devil’s Elk, the Swan on Death’s River – and in the shadows, an unseen danger lurks.

Based on a gripping tale from the Finnish folk epic the Kalevala, Swanhunter is a new chamber opera from two of the world’s leading opera companies.

This new production sees Opera North collaborate with the acclaimed theatre company The Wrong Crowd to create an inventive fusion of opera, puppetry and live action.

German expressionist gothic horror film, the 1920s silent cinema classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, viewed across a panoramic three-screen set up, and interwoven with a 3D projection mapped set.

The sensational Gandini Juggling returns to its love affair with pure patterns and mathematics with 4x4. Following the international success of Smashed, this new work takes us on fleeting journeys through time and space in a unique dialogue between jugglers and ballet dancers.

The witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night.

Can you help a friendly scientist and his amazing time machine get them back for him?

A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things and all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK! – it snaps in two! When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch?

Written especially for parents to enjoy with their children, this fun filled farmyard tale brings to life all the best loved characters from the original nursery rhyme along with a magical medley of games, giggles and sing along songs including Heads, Shoulders Knees And Toes, She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain and of course Old MacDonald Had A Farm.

The film weaves stunningly edited archive footage and never-before-seen interviews with the real key players of the strike: the miners themselves. Diverse young voices birth a truthful show about how love, relationships, politics, gender and everything in between make us stronger beings.

The virtuoso players of Ensemble 360 return to Cast.

Haydn’s ‘Emperor’ Quartet from 1797 includes a slow movement that is a set of variation on the tune ‘Gott erhalte’ that he had recently composed in honour of the Austrian Emperor.

György Ligeti wrote his Horn Trio in 1982 as a tribute to Brahms. The music has hints of Bartók in its use of driving Bulgarian rhythms, and of earlier composers in the final Passacaglia.

Béla Bartók’s Piano Quintet was composed in 1904, before folk music became so central to his style, the influence of Richard Strauss and Liszt is unmistakable.

At 3.40pm on May 11th 1985, a small fire broke out in the main stand at Valley Parade football ground during the final match of the season. Within four minutes the wooden structure was ablaze. Fifty-four Bradford City supporters and two Lincoln City supporters lost their lives.

This unique theatrical experience provides a truthful retelling of the stories of those involved in the Bradford City fire. Adapted solely from real-life testimonies and interviews from witnesses.

All the profits from The 56 will be donated to University of Bradford Burns Research Unit.

For 25 years trombonist Dennis Rollins has played at the forefront of UK jazz, funk and pop as an ‘impossibly virtuosic’ sideman to such stars such as Maceo Parker, Courtney Pine, Blur, Tom Jones and as an awardwinning leader in his own right.

Rollins’ latest project is the Velocity Trio, a brilliant marriage of refined contemporary jazz arrangements with simmering grooves featuring Hammond organ virtuoso Ross Stanley and fiery drummer Pedro Segundo.

Rachel always wanted to be a star, she wanted to run away with the circus, and have her name in lights, and escape from this house – and she dreamed of the future.

But people can be ugly. The closer they are the uglier they get. And there’s nobody closer to yourself than yourself. Life is a juggling act. Love is a highwire. Try to do both at once, and it’s a long way down.

Explore techniques for developing ideas and generating new ways of performing material. For anyone who wishes to express themselves through words, you don’t have to consider yourself a poet to come along.

A space to try new things, share your work and give and receive critical feedback.

Meverhold’s Theatrical Biomechanics is a unique approach to movement training. His ideas were fundamental to modern theatre and have influenced major directors such as Peter Brook, Grotowski and Brecht.

A means of refining the actor’s balance and physical control, rhythmic awareness and responsiveness to other performers, audiences and external stimuli.

A week long special masterclass residency aimed at hip hop artists. Breakin’ Convention’s Open Art Surgery offers hip hop artists (not just dancers but also musicians, emcees, spoken word artists, visual artists etc) the opportunity to develop and experiment with new ideas in theatre; share new work publicly and receive mentorship from Artistic Director Jonzi D and Paul Sadot.

You will spend one week workshopping and devising with the mentors, who are on hand to inspire, advise and offer support.

You will also be given the space to rehearse and work independently. With no pressure on a highly polished end product, Open Art Surgery allows artists to take creative risks, try something different or to test ideas.

A Jerwood Arvon mentee, Leicester Curve Associate Artist and co-leader of the Roundhouse Poetry Collective, Deborah ‘Debris’ Stevenson founded Mouthy Poets in Nottingham in 2010. She is passionate about giving people a platform for their writing and their voice, as well as personal and professional development opportunities.

As a dyslexic writer one of her goals is to empower people through innovative thinking and creativity.

Chloe Whitehead, Director of Proper Job Theatre Company, has been studying Biomechanics with Russian Master Gennadi Bogdanov since 1995 and is founder of Talia Theatre, an international touring company specialising in Biomechanics. Having used the technique in contemporary theatre both as an actor and a director, she is now a PhD student with the University of Huddersfield.

Accessibility Our new building has been designed with complete accessibility in mind. Whatever your access requirements you will find our venue accommodating and accessible.

If you have specific needs please discuss these with our ticket office staff. All areas are accessible via lifts and there are accessible wheelchair spaces throughout. Performance spaces are equipped with infrared hearing panels, which can also accommodate audio described performances. There is also a changing places room for people with specific needs.
