WELCOME Oliver Schibli Art Portfolio — Painting is a personal journey of getting to know myself and I am currently on the way of that journey. I’m inspired by my passion for nature, travel and music. For my work I travel between islands, forests, cultures, colours, tunes and create artworks that reflect these impressions and emotions; it can be as simple as the colours of a leaf on a tree or a tune from Sade or Mozart.
“For me canvas is a place of meditation.” Colour transmits the soul of my work and adds more sense to the themes that I paint. The use of colour, contrast and also the composition are never left to fate in my paintings, it´s often very calculated. I love to work with gold leaf because gold in its physical state, by its very nature, extravagance is linked to masculine energy and the power of the sun. Optimistic and positive, gold adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated - it illuminates and enhances other things around it.

O
liver is a self-taught artist who began creating in his early years at school.
The works of Oliver are an idyllic paradise of visual harmonies, inspired by the beauty of ancient art and wall paintings paired with new world problems and tributes to his favorite artists.
the emotional response that Gold evokes. Beyond symbolizing opulence and wealth, it manifests a feeling of refinement that is often lost in today’s disposable culture. By listening to his higher self, the part of all of us that is connected to universal truth, the work creates Oliver as much as he creates the work.
An immersive visual experience that invites us into his golden world paved with a commanding blue hue and sometimes Cosmos black. This particular Ocean blue represents pure energy, and when used in tandem with pure gold a metal that has shared origins with our human consciousness since time immemorial - it symbolizes my need to seek out that which is rare, precious, scarce, and pure on a universal level. His works integrates the labor-intensive, ancient technique of hand gilding. Oliver meticulously applies several layers of Gold Leaf and Ocean Blue to each of his canvases. Oliver explores concepts of infinity and greatness. One of the most striking elements of Oliver’s paintings is his use of Gold Leaf. Most of the Earth’s gold lies at its core, the metal’s high density having made it sink there in our planet’s youth. Virtually all gold discovered is considered to have been deposited by meteorites that contained the element. In essence Oliver is painting with metal from fallen stars. The iconic Ocean blue creates a void, and Oliver reclaims that void and makes it all his own. In that void one can gain their full power. Oliver’s work pairs the decadent and the minimal, the spectacular and the invisible, seeking to heighten the experience of the spectator by creating immersive environments that transport the viewer into other worlds. The boundless nature of sky and ocean, provoking a striking emotional response. What interests him most about Gold is its scarcity and
