In the period from 7th century to the Ottoman conquer; Arabians, Abbasi, Egyptian Tulunoğulları, Seljuklians, Mogols, the crusaders, Memluks, Ramzanoğulları and Karamanoğulları had taken control of the region. From the 16th century onwards, Mersin and its neighbourhood were added to the Ottoman land.
