WE PROVIDE A STIMULATING AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT Young People are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities and to become involved in pursuing what interests them to build self-confidence.Our staff team has a range of skills and training to support them in doing so. We have 3 staff who are qualified Duke of Edinburgh Award Assessors.

We also have a qualified Mountain Leader, a Climbing Instructor, a qualified Canoe Instructor, a Football and Rugby Coach. We also have an award winning DJ who runs his own music production training and therapeutic art classes for the benefit of the Young People living at “The Oakland’s”.

WE PREPARE THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR CARE TO EMBRACE AND SUCCEED IN INDEPENDENT LIVING. This process begins the moment a Young Person comes into our care. Our staff and especially the Key worker will work with the Young Person in gaining the skills they will ultimately need to become a self-sufficient and confident individual. In helping our Young People grow toward independence we are fortunate to have a member of our staff team who has 4 years’ experience working in a manage-

ment role for a Leaving Care Project in London. Here Holli assisted Young People in making the transition from care into everyday life. She supported them in accessing education, helped them find work, and acted as a sounding board for their fears and concerns as they navigated this difficult transition. This experience and knowledge will be used to inform and support our Young People where appropriate.
