“Excuse me dear cat I don’t mean to pry but how did you come to have only one eye?” In a blink of an eye she was stood on her own the cat disappeared to a place now unknown.


She didn’t mean to cause offence of a cat with one eye she tried to make sense. But cats are we know curiosity prone looking back it’s eye shone like a precious gem stone.


Our Private Eye followed the cat through the wood to a fork in the path where an oak tree stood.

Up in the branches a dazzle and flash a single magpie with his glittering stash.


“Morning”, she said and asked the magpie

“did you happen to see a cat missing one eye?”

“I clocked it” he said

“but I don’t have the time” .

admiring his treasures from a lifetime of crime.


She travelled on for less than a mile to a lake where lounged a vain crocodile. He smiled a false smile to reveal a gold tooth

“How handsome am I? ” he asked our young sleuth.

“Of looks it is true your opinion is high,


but I’m on the trail of a cat with one eye”.

“Well my young friend can you not see the only thing I observe is a reflection of me”.


But still our young snooper the answer did crave trooped onwards and upwards to the mouth of a cave. The glow from within was all mellow and sunny and there basked a bear with a jar full of honey. She knocked on a rock to get his attention the tale of the cat she had hoped to mention. But with a jar full of honey still sat on his belly he informed the young gumshoe,


“I’m watching the telly!”


On up the hill along a dirt track to the top of a mountain she observed a wolf pack. They answered in harmony

“Oh what a loon be on your way we must

hooooowl at the moooon!”


Down from the mountain good time she did make and arrived at the sea by the dawn of daybreak. On a ship stood a Pirate with a bright telescope A clue he might have the girl she did hope.

“Ar hargh there me hearty!”

the pirate did say “you’ve been following the cat for a night and a day”.


“Aye” said the girl “that I cannot deny I’ve been tailing the unfortunate cat with one eye”.

“True, the cat finds it hard depth perception to measure but his view is well rounded of things he might treasure.

The blind spot exists within your own question”. A review of the case was the pirates suggestion.


Her mind’s eye recalled the journey she had found a certain viewpoint that made her feel sad.


“I’ve seen many creatures as I pursued single minded beyond our own interests we beings were blinded”.


Then all of a sudden the cat did appear the question was asked and an answer drew near.


He eyeballed the girl then glanced towards a chest containing the bounty from adventures and quests. She opened the casket and to her surprise staring back a collection of mythical eyes.

The all seeing Horus an Egyptian cipher.

But rising up to the top was the eye of the tiger.


They all shared their stories over breakfast that morning eye opening truths these tales were adorning. And what was the answer to that original question? So many arose now this one lost her attention. Then eyelids grew heavy and she drifted to sleep deeper and deeper her slumber did seep.


Meandering dreams over horizons did roam showing the way on a long voyage home


She opened her eyes the girl she awoke and recorded her vision with the brush of a stroke.
